Ride n Try day

Southwest Minimoto held its second Ride n Try day in conjunction with our last club day of the year and it was a roaring success. We estimated expected numbers of up to 20 people coming to have a try out on the dasy but we were blown out of our seats having 32 people coming out to have a go at the greatest sport on earth.

Brendan "Hippy" O'Donnell supplied most of the bikes - as usual (thanks Hippy) but thankfully no major damage was sustained. Many of the people that tried out have expressed interest in coming back for another go so we are looking forward to picking up a few new riders out of the day.

To my elation, the favoured bike on the day amongst the bigger rider was my 110 cc Midi so I'll be on a personal drive to see the Midi class introduced into the Aussie titles in the future if we can revive the class numbers.

The day was mared by accidents of both of the Keegan boys. First my son Ryan #48 on his CRG 50 RR had a savage highside and landed on his butt. He broke his Coxis in the crash and may be off the bike for as many as 6 months. I also had a big highside at the end of the day when the tyre blew out on the Midi at turn 1. The rim gripped with a vengance and flipped me over fast enough to put me in hospital alongside Ryan for the night.

Ultimatly....that's racing and the day was brilliant. I'm proud to be part of a really progressive club and I'm looking forward to the future.

My god, Irish! Your wife must be awfully ticked off with you!!! You with a broken ego and your son with a busted ar$e is not a good combo.

Great to hear you guys had a fantastic turnout for the day.

Hope the healing process is a swift and painless one for you both.

regards,

Claw
