Fair play racing

I read the thread that got off topic and arrived at a war of words between two members and got me thinking.

My family arrived at pocket bikes with the notion it would be the most cost effective way to get my 13 year old son into motorcycle racing.

I am an ex MX rider and could not afford the cost of the sport for my son.
MX bikes are fast out of the box and few are modified, so most riders are starting on a level playing field. The way to win races is to set up the bike and to be the best rider on the day.

You don't need to be Rossie to be able to win on a bike that has twice the speed of a standard bike or pulls out of corners like a slingshot and brakes like a GP bike, especially on a track that rewards a fast bike.

When little Billy gets lapped week after week by a kid who may not be as good a rider as him, he will start to lose interest. And no, I am not a Parent trying to relive "the glory days of old" My wife and I have been through the "Just go out and have fun and It doesn't matter where you finish" thing.

Everyone wants to see their kid a winner, however it seems in this sport, your kid can be a winner providing Mum and Dad are willing to dig deep and spend a fortune on modifications.

I would also suggest a conflict of interest, in that a club that disallows seperate classes for standard/ modified bikes, appears to be combining
all bikes for the sake of profits in their own "Speed shop"

I'm sure there are plenty of standard bike riders who would like a fair race. There is strength in numbers folks and I'm sure the club would rather create another class than loose racers to different venues.

also..im 16..and my dad laughs at me when I get overtaken.. :evil: He wont pay for a thing (he keeps saying..my dad didnt buy me abike etc)...so I had to buy my own bike and race it stock and be humiliated on the track by little kids..so now I'm slowly doing it up..as I only get paid 280 a week at woolworths :lol: And I'm starting to run up near the front..

But now I want to buy a water cooled bike..and just can't afford it as my parents aren't like 'many' others who buy them EVERYTHING~

but these guy's just will not listen, even though they have received countless pleads to do the right thing from heaps of people that attend their meets and guy's from this forum. I am at a complete loss as to how we can make ''SIR TUGGALOT'' listen.

word from the horses mouth is that this week they are starting a wiegh in system.
They are also starting a A and B grade class , so that the guys on standards have a chance to race each other, then in the second race, if someone is way out infront from the first race, they will go to A grade for race 2

i see thier point about it being to hard to police standard and modded bikes, mine is standard , cuse i bought it new and havent done anything to it, BUT, it did come with a bigger pipe and race air cleaner, so does that now make my bike modded, dunno :? :?

anyway, who gives a toss really, im not there to win, just to have fun and mix it up with a few blokes and have some fun

isnt that every sport gillberg?????

as for the strength in numbers, i reckon you called it right cuase as of this week they are running a A grade and B grade , for slower and faster riders, then the faster in B get elevated to A for the next race and so forth
( im pretty sure thats what is happening, some sorta format like that )

Just bought some new motoX pants...set me back $200 :? so look out for some REALLY bright yellow fox pants :lol:


I just changed both my sprockets for the race (gotta beat bung) hehe :lol: so I'm running a 9 tooth front with a 74tooth rear...my old set-up was 8/68...

and yeh...hopefully I can finish top 5 :twisted:
