| | | Tracks, insurance and liability
The lack of pocket bike riding tracks in melbourne is really frustrating. I get that noone is allowing bikes on their tracks because of the insurance costs but etc but how come some tracks eg the track in south morang do. If its economically viable for them why is it not viable for anyone else?
My dream is to open a pocket bike store with bikes, parts and service with a track on the roof somewhere near the city in melbourne. Just think, no waiting for parts to arrive from the internet, whacking them straight on with the help of staff and then testing them all on the same day on the rooftop track. Sigh*
Dreams are free.....

I can fully understand the frustration there, i have been trying to set up a track for mid's to ride on, but with the cost of the insurance being through the roof, it's a case of setting up a club then applying to motorcycling australia for an affiliation, thats the only way to gain the insurance cover necessary ...
Havent been able to set the club up yet, but will think about it later this year, was going to set up a club meet at oran park, but with the track going under the hammer later this year, theres no point yet...

Well if thats the case its clear that tracks who allow you to ride obviously dont have insurance.
At $40 bucks per ride you would need around 68 riders a day 365 days a year just to cover insurance. Thats insane.

Generally you need 10 mill liability cover and you can get this for around $1500 a year. In WA we've had every one telling us @ PBAWA that we also need volunteers insurance and that every rider should have there own insurance, then they will look at us. I have looked into affiliation with MWA motorcycling WA and at a cost of 3-400 bucks a year you can be covered but you have to put a few members through a marshalling school and have at least 50 members! But the cost of each riders day insurance/day licence for a ride day is $1 and race day about $15. Its a great deal but you have to jump through alot of hoops and have 50 financial members.
