exhaust silencers

speaking about exhausts... are there exhaust silencers available for the water cooled bikes? i don't do any racing at the moment (soon though) and it'll help reduce the neighbours complaining about the noise. :?

X-Can

Yes stocky, I was most impressed by the can far better than stock a little more expensive than most pipes but the power gain was the goods...a little bit of mucking around but as far as i'm concerned the overall power gain was exceptional and makes a devilish noise when power band is hit....

Normally i would do one mod at a time but while the bike is pulled down and all the new parts are there i would rather fit them all in one hit. I will be fitting a lightened flywheel this weekend though.

taking it apart and putting it back together over and over and over and over and over and over and over again is a long tedious job. its not somthing most people need to wory about. i remember reading in australian dirtbike magazine. the head mechanic for the castrol ktm team wrote an article about what the team has been doing for the last month. they were doing some research and development work for ohlins suspention, and he said in two weeks they had the fork dissasembled 44 times and tested at 5 different tracks.
shuld just take off all your fins from your flywheel i dont think they do jack **** for cooling anyway and the wind drag would counter the momentum effect of having extra weight on it. just make sure you cut off the plastic cover from the side of the cylender. cylender temp will probably be more uniform. just dont stand there reving the **** out of it with the back wheel off the ground for very long. and when you stop just kill the engine and start it again when you want to go. its not much of a sacrifice really.

After working on aircraft for ten years pulling the engines down and rebuilding them, i;m not to keen to pull my bike down over and over, i just want to ride it.
I cant see the flywheel making much difference, i only had it lightened as i broke a fin off it, but we will see on the weekend.
Do i really need to cut holes in the plastic cover over the flywheel?

aircraft mechanic, cool. i wouldnt mind getting a good look at inside of an aircraft engine. people like me pull the engines down over and over again so people like you dont have to.
you shuld cut your flywheel cover. just the piece that covers the side of the cylender so you get even air flow, and your bore stays more round like your rings and piston.

Welcome to the forums Qcmracing

It's probably best you ask the question as a new topic - you'll get a better response this way.
