| | | Best 2-stroke Oil
Hi, I'm back with another question. I've been having problems with my bike so after running numerous tanks of gas with different mixtures I need to ask a question. What do you reccomend is the best synthetic oil to run in my 49cc bike and at what mixture should I mix it at? My bike was ran in with 25:1 for 4 tanks with non-synthetic oil now i'm currently running sumthin like 50:1. So what oil do you reccomend and what should I mix it at? Thanks again everyone.
PS: That how to clean out carby sticky kicks *** thanks man now i can clean my carby myself without worrying im going to break sumthin
Also should i clean the bowl part of the carb or the part with the jet and stuff and what should i clean it with if i don't have an air compressor?

there are heaps of good oils out there, there isnt really a 'best', to me the best oil is something that is avaliable locally, and not too pricey. I have had a good run with motul 800, castrol r2 racingbike and castrol tts. Those oils arnt too pricey, and should avalible locally.
Carby cleaning- try filtering some petrol, and clean the carby with that (i,e in a bucket) or buy some carburettor cleaner (its a spray) for like $5. Or find someone with an air compressor

Ok thanks I think I'll try motul if it's available here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. If not I should be able to find that castrol easily enough. Is it all full synthetic?
Also with the carb cleaner would i do the same as if it was petrol and soak it in a bucket of carb cleaner?
EDIT: Motul isn't available in my city so I'll go with castrol I guess since im looking for a new oil. What type of castrol should I look for there is so many of them.
EDIT: Ok I have found that there are only 2 castrol synthetic 2-stroke oils. They are Castrol r2 Racing Bike and Castrol TTS. Which should I look for and is 40:1 a good mix ratio for these (both fully synthetic oils)?
Thanks again everyone

Alright hopefully I didn't confuse anyone there but this is what I still need to know. With the carb cleaner would i do the same as if it was petrol and soak it in a bucket of carb cleaner, and are all carb cleaners sprays?
Now about the oil. Motul isn't available in my city so I'm going with Castrol. I have found that there are only 2 castrol synthetic 2-stroke oils. They are Castrol r2 Racing Bike and Castrol TTS. Which should I get for my 49cc bike and is 40:1 a good mix ratio for both of these synthetic oils? Also what is the difference from pre-mixed 2-stroke oils and other oils? Is one already mixed with gas?
Thanks

you must go for the correct oil such as pre mix as some oils are designed for oil injected engines [ ready mix] castrol r2 is fine at 40 to 1 mix ratio. also forget the expensive carb cleaner if possible and just use clean petrol [gas] to clean your carby.

Thx RD. Do I just need to soak the carby in petrol then? Will this actually clean it out if it's clogged with anything though? Also Castrol TTS says designed for both oil injection and premix application but you recomend the other one right?

no you just can,t soak a carby in say petrol and expect your carby,s internals to be cleaned out, if you have a look at [carby clean out ] on this forum you may gain the knowlage needed to successfully clean out a stock carb, its very easy to understand even for canadians  plus the oil you mentioned is ok for your p bike engine, 40 to 1.

I'm going to clean my carb tomorrow. Also RD the sticky says to blow everything out but I don't have an air compressor so you said to use petrol. So I don't know how im going to know if it's totally clean.

Any suggestions on how to clean it good without an air compressor? Is that the only way to get stuff out of the jet?
