Question Blata water pump o-ring orientation?

I`m rebuilding my first genuine B1 engine (done reps before) and I found what I think is a backwards installed water pump o-ring.

I thought that when you split the cases, remove the water pump impeller you will see the "open exposed spring side " of the o-ring with the "flat side" of the o-ring facing down

I found the opposite on this engine.I pulled the impeller up and out and saw the flat side of the oring showing??

Can some one confirm the right way please.

(I use silicon grease to cover the spring to prevent it from rusting on the reps I have done)

hope you can help-thanks

I am confirming the correct method of installation direct from Blata and I am waiting on the answer.

The spring or open side of the seal faces the water side of the motor.
So, going by what you have described, the seal was facing the correct way when you pulled the motor apart.

o ring orientation

Thanks once again for the help! Ozminimoto rules!

As I had thought the o-ring was in backwards.I guess the previous owner had done a rebuild and done it wrong but I had to be sure and you guys are the authority on all thing Blata.

cheers

I have in the past mounted them backwards with success due to the seal lip flipping over when installing the impeller shaft. **tut tut** I know this is wrong but hey.
