| | | Octane booster help any?
Hello all just curious to know if putting octane booster in some 93octane fuel would boost the octane level enough to actually help? I would certainly think so if you put a full bottle into a 2gallon fuel tank right?

enough to help what?
you want to run the lowest octane you can without pre-detonation occuring. that will give you the best Hp.
remember octane doesn't equal Hp.

So 98 octane pump fuel from servo, mixed with some 2 stroke oil, 30mils to a litre, then put 100mls of rc car fuel to a litre of fuel, and then just before you go to break the world record, put one of those magic heart pills in the tank...

Really use the lowest octane possible?? I was told by the shop that sold me the bike that the highest octane you can find will run the best. So I've been running 93 octane in it. This isn't any good?

you want to run the lowest octane that your bike can HANDLE.
if you are running 14:1 compression on those high performance w/c then you will definatlely need 98 octane.
because that will be the lowest a 14:1 comp engine can handle. but a 8:1 lawn mower will be able to run 91 octane.

Oh wait a tick, the highest octane you can generally get aroudn here is 93 octane.. so it sounds like I might be running the "low grade" stuff then right?
I'll have to look up the compression ratio on this bike in my manual though, thanks.

i dont know where you are from but we have 98 octane BP ultimate fuel here.
you can get 101 octane shell but no one touches it as they achieve the octane with the use of additives, where as the BP fuel is straight off the top of the barrel.

We have 87octane, 91, and 93. SOME places have 95octane.
