| | | New guy with money to burn on mods!!
Hello all I'm Matt and from America (seems most of you guys are from across the world), and I love love love my pocket bike. I'm 5' 11" and 220lbs and probably look like an elephant riding a scooter, but its the funnest thing in the world. And the best part is, my wife supports my hobby because its CHEAP!! I can do so much to this bike for so little! In fact, I bought my wife a bike too hehe.
So heres my list of mods I wanna do. Tell me yay, neigh, or add or subtract things as you deem neccesary. I've had a lot of toys over the years, but I've been having fun with turbo diesel trucks the past year or so, and as you all know turbo diesels are much different than hi-winding two strokes.
-hp flywheel
-c/f reed
-pipe
-hp carb
-sml rocket key
I've been reading that a good hp headgasket does wonders for these bikes too? And high compression rings? I've also heard that a better hp clutch spring kit works well?
Any more input? I'm really excited to start modding my bike and cant wait to start really hauling.
Oh I also plan on getting aluminum pull start w/ metal teeth, rear pegs for my wifes bike, better mid-section pegs for MY bike, and a few other things.
Can you guys tell me which mods will give me the most hp and bang for the buck?
Matt

save your money and buy a decent bike if you want performance but if you want to wast your money and be disappointed spend your money on mods i may sound like a kill joy but i race both chinese and quality euro bikes the chinese bikes are great for new riders to get a taste for the sport and if they do and they like it and want to go faster then i recommend go for a water cooled chinese or if you have the money a euro the reasons that i say this is i have seen many people spend lots of money and time on chinese air cooled bikes only to be frustrated you see these bikes are not very reliable and when you mod them they are even more unreliable that's my advice for your best bang for buck you will get others on here that will tell you different but believe me they really have know idea

LOL... At least when your CAG breaks down, you don't have to wait on the infield for 10 freakin laps... I never finished a *** damn race in Elite, But never once did my CAG miss a beat... Reliabilty is the biggest thing in this sport... I used to think the most frustrating thing was when a kid broke down on the track on their Cag, unable to finish the race...
Now I know its when I break down, on my Elite.... Grrrrrr........!!
Nothing wrong with a china bike as graeme said.. Just need to know someone... !!

Granted it's stock, but I harp the heck out of it and it keeps on purring. Stock plugs and everything. And it's really fast on the top end. My cousin who mods 4 stroke minibikes and motorcycles and stuff even admitted he was scared to wind out the bike because it really does haul. Quote:

I'm upgrading it in the next week or so. And on my wifes bike her pull start busted up somehow. I think the garbage plastic teeth in the pull start broke off and when I cranked on it I tore the pull start right off the motor lol. Other than that they are a blast and seem to be of pretty good quality.
I wanna make it a touch quicker. I'm a modder by nature so I wanna see what I can get this thing to do

*waves hand* I too have fallen into the addiction that is pocket bikes and just bought one this weekend with a couple of mates getting one as well.
Question is exactly as per the first post, what can i do to make it a little quicker? At 6ft and 90kgs i think it needs every little hp bost it can get. Just running it in atm (25:1 mixture) but then want to add a few bits n pieces.
I am not interested in high performance, racing spec upgrades, just 'bang for buck' upgrade advice for my air cooled 49cc bike so i can just have a hooting time
I have found a few supplier in Syd but have NFI what some of the parts do (mechanically noobified). I have seen a reed valve and rocket key as upgrades, but what do these do? What would you experienced peeps do as a top 5 list of things to do!? Any help would be appreciated! Oh and not interested in changing engine to water or those euro thingys i see mentioned above....

I have spent years in motorsport (sedans) and just gave it up for some cheaper fun. Never owning a bike I am quite the mechanic novice on 2 strokes so was looking for some sound advice/tips. Perhaps this is the wrong place, predominatley a 'racing scene' with little regard for everyday hacks and noobs.
But again thank you for the advise and i will continue on my trawl through the forums for available advise already at hand.
If anyone can point me in the right direction for 'useful advice' it would be greatly appreciated.....
Just simply after a dummies guide on parts and suppliers.
Cheers
