Yes, cut the resonator off, thats at the end of the exhaust system under the seat. Run straight pipe instead, electrical conduit works great. Dont go big, stay same diameter as outlet now or as close as possible. Cut chamber out as well. Really increase performance. Gains all through the rpm range. Cut both welds (CHAMBER SIDE). The pipe sticks into chamber and you need tocut to BUTT weld pipes to chamber.
THIS AND CARB BORE TO 14MM ARE THE 2 MOST IMPORTANT MODS YOU CAN DO TO A CHINESE CAG!

DO not run pipe through the chamber! The chamber is there for POWER in a 2 stroke. 17MM? You did this and it idles? I thought 15mm was the border line on a chinese cag. I once bored the carb to 5/8`s. It had zero throttle,,,just ran WOT constant.

All of them seemed to run fine. You might just have had a dud one <trust me, i've had a few.>

No, it was open on both sides of the slide. This was a 47 (really 39cc) cag bike.
