| | | spark plugs?
Hi all, with a bit of reading through this forum I've read one of the things to make your bikes more reliable is to use a good brand of sparkplug instead of the chinese ones that come with it. So i went out with the JLM7 that was in the new engine I bought which was the exact same engine as the one the ZBM6A came from. The guy couldn't find an identical spakrplyug so he gave me the NGK one. one of my friends said that it will run really badly if I use it, so will the 2 or 3 millimetres make any difference to the engines performance? If so can anyone recommend a good sparkplug to replace the stock one with? |

You need a NGK BM7A or BM6A ...

ngk.....
B7MA or BM6A... these are your standard size cag plugs..
B7HS or B8HS... both these plugs have a little longer reach, but work better in standard cag engines than the others.. it gives a little more compression by filling in a little more of the space left between the piston @ top dead centre & the top of the barrel...(always make sure you pull the motor over to check for clearance when using any other plug beside standard...you can do this by taking the washer off the plug & checking clearance without it.. or you can check the squish with some soldering wire... you should chech them all anywayz)
The lower the number the hotter the plug... remembering pocketbikes where designed to be run in a lot cooler climate than ours... choosing a colder plug(higher number) I'v found to be a better option..
so try a B8HS.. otherwise a BM7A...you should be able to pick 'em up from supercheap...

NGK are by far a lot better plug then chinese standard plugs that come in cags.. They will last a lot longer...
BTW... Morty, thanks for complicating what I had already said.. lol..

ahh morty, you foiled me, I read the B7MA and when I went to the spark plus store they told me it didn't exist. thankfully they have BM7A's in stock so back for another trip. although it's good you expanded on what TyD said by explaing what the different plugs do.
bikes almost ready now. |

First off you want a hotter plug. Second, yan the head (jug) gasket out for compression and squinch.

can you use the plug B7HS or B8HS in conjuntion with a copper headgasket in order to get more compression, since the B7HS or B8HS are longer than stock? Will this make noticeable difference?

| | | plugs..
5 piece headkits allow you to use the fatter plug.. B7HS or B8HS... but the single/3 piece headkits require a C7HSA or C8HSA... You can run a plug with a 'R' in it...eg: CR7HSA.. but I found these plugs to run a little hotter than a normal plug... It has a resistor in them to stop static from the engine to the radio...
You may need to run a second washer under the plug to stop it from hitting the piston, depends what squish you have... I advise running two washers regardless... It's better than the alternative..
& no hoss, you don't need a hotter plug... maybe over there you may... but ridin in 40 degree heat everyday, Is enough torture for my little bike.... Remember these bikes where designed to be run in a little bit cooler climate than ours mate..!!!
