suggestions for a leaking waterpump?

Long story short my waterpump is leaking. I've assembled it in the correct order with all the parts, new bearings etc. The beaings are a tight fit and required some tapping with a hammer and a socket to get them into place. The only thing I can imagine may be an issue is I remember the flat washer which runs hard up against the crankcase may not of been 100% perfectly flat. This could be my issue.

Is there any common tips or tricks into getting a good seal with the combination of bearings and washer/seal etc?

It's pretty easy to fold the water pump seal over the wrong way when installing the impeller shaft on those reps mate. It's a pretty hard thing to check quickly though. If you run into massive problems mate bring it around we'll sort it out on the weekend if ya want!!!
