| | Help Please
My mate has a pocket rocket and he is going to sell i to me when its up and running.
Its a 49cc cag, the sames as all the other chinese minibikes.
It idles with no problem but when you hit the throttle there is no forward movement.
Do you know how to fix this? Do i have to clean out the carby jets etc. Or maybe the fuel filter and lines.
Thanks for your help. =]

Hi Speedsta
Could be a few things mate..Could be the clutch..Does the motor rev freely and you get no movement or does the motor splutter.

OK Mate
The best way to get to the bottom of your problem is to check one thing at a time...Firstly do you a have fresh fuel in it with the proper ratio of 2 stroke oil. If so then I would check the spark plug..make sure it is the correct one for a cag and that it is sparking.I think that cags run a BMPR 7...someone correct me If I'm wrong. This can be done by taking the spark plug out..put the lead back on it..hold the threaded part of the spark plug against the barel anywhere and pull the pull starter. You should see a nice little spark at the end of the electrode if all is good...If you don't get a good spark, change the plug over..If you change the plug and still get none or little spark then you will have to look further at the coil...will tell you more about that after you try the plug...let me know how it goes.

if the motor is standard, it will be a BM6A or BM7A.. BM7A is better as it is a cooler plug, so the motor won't heat up as fast/as much.

Thanks Mate I will go over his house soon and we will do that. =]
And by the way about the fuel lines.... we recently put thinner lines on because the fatter ones broke, so do you think it is that.

Its all good now thanks for your help. It was the wrong fuel tap or something like that.
Another thing though, when you take off it rattles heaps but when you get going it pretty much stops. Its nothing obvious like loose bolts etc.

The rattling is pretty normal for Cags - lose any fillings yet?
There's a mod you can do to reduce engine vibration. If you look in the "Hints and Tips of the Month", I explained it all in there, what you need to get and do to the bike to lessen vibration. It's only like an hour's work, and costs maybe ten bucks. The difference is unreal, almost like you're riding a different bike ......
