question about 49cc engines

hi, i just bought my first pocket bike so i don't know much about them. i've got a 49cc engine. from the research i've done, i gather the 49cc engines are called 49cc cag?

to my disappointment, i found that my particular bike has a top speed of 30km/h where every other 49cc cag has top speed around 55 - 60km/h. i was just wondering, would my engine be the same as all the other ones? and the sprockets are just geared too low? it would be great if all i have to do is to put different sprockets on. i've seen the sprocket thread so i know what ratios i need. all other cags seem to rev to around 10 000rpm.

would my engine be the same as all them? and would running a ratio 6/60 be too tall for this engine? thanks guys. i'm not really looking to get massive gains in speed. just the same as other 49cc cags would be fine.

mate, first of all, good work on using the search button and doing some stuff yourself, it shows that you want to learn..

Yes, your bike is a cag..

and no 6/60 isnt to tall, i run 7/62 and that for short track, you could try running like 8/56 or something to get more top speed out of your bike but thats just going to give you very bad acceleration and not much bottom end/down low power..

there is a couple of things you can do to get your cag running great,

Something like 14mm carb, jetpro pipe, 2 piece head kit, full circle crank..

I would give you links to all these parts but pocket bike parts website is down for construction so it would be much help, i can though give you Ayden's email address so you can contact him and get some "go fast bits" for you cag..

howtovideo@people.net.au

great bloke and good prices.. also very fast delivery!

thanks and good luck Ty

gromet is an unknown quantity at this point
If it doesn't sound like its reeving as high as the rest you could have an issue with your jetting,
you'll need to eliminate all the possibility's, I would start by pulling apart your carby and cleaning it out, let us no how you go k...

thanks guys. i'm a member of quite a few different forums and it's annoying when threads get started every 2nd day with the same topic. so i did research a lot before i asked the question.

luckily for me, i'm good mates with a mechanic whom i bought the bike off. so he'll have no worries checking carbies, fuel lines etc... and sprocket changes are easy enough even i could do it. i'll keep those mods that tyd mentioned in mind. i'll get onto them later.
