back wheel spinning

hey, so are you saying, when you pull the motor over, the back wheel spins... yeah?!
If so, your clutch seems to engage to early for some reason.. this could be a few things! So take off your clutch bell and see whats going on... maybe the bolt you are using to hold your clutch on is just a bit big and hitting the housing or maybe your clutch is damaged! Look for wear marks on the inside of your housing to indicate any problems with clearance!!

judging from his first post...

well, judging from his first post...
"a nieghbour gave my son his pocketbike. It was not running. I changed the plug and got it going. It will run as long as you have the wheel off the ground. When you put the wheel down to ride it it dies. Any suggestions?"

I'm just spitballing here ... its a Cag... And if its a w/c, you'v definately got some clutch issues!!

I'm thinking dirty carb. This is the biggest issue with cags. You can get them to start but you have to keep the throttle open to get 'em revving, if the carb is dirty.

I wish my wife was as dirty as my cag carb.....

Ahem

i had a bike that did this exact thing, what it is, is if the bike is old or heavily used, the spring on the clutch become brittle and shatter, then the lock between the cluthc shoes and drum causeing the clutch to stick and stall the engine, so for about $2,99 you can get some new springs and fix your problem, dont keep trying to break it loose or you will snap off your shoes from your clutch and it will be rubbish untill you buy a whole new clutch ssembly.

hope this helps

It's one of my pet hates on the forum, you see noobs jump on a search the forum and then make stupid useless posts just to bring it back to the top of the page and make their post count come up some more.

I suppose this one isn't that bad, I just wanted to give him a warning so he doesn't dig up other threads and things..

No hard feelings was meant when I posted, think some peeps got the wrong idea.
