Need Help with Carb ASAP.. please

Ok guys, I have been hunting for some help and a buddy of mine told me you guys are the ones to ask.

I have a 110cc Lifan. Now this came stock with a 19mm carb and some stupid air filter that had pretty much no air flow at all. However, the motor ran good with this carb.

Step 1 - I bought a Mikuni 26mm carb and bolted her on this motor. The bike ran good until 4th gear... it pretty much had no throttle at all. You would have to wiggle the throttle to find a sweet spot to even make it run. It also had a K&N air filter and was stock jetted with a 95 main jet.

Step 2 - Minor port work on the head and put her back together. Ran the 26mm carb with a 72.5 main jet. Bike fires right up. Runs good through 1st and 2nd and then runs bad again in 3rd gear.

Step 4 - Swapped out to my 24mm Mikuni with a 95 main jet and ran the K&N filter. Still runs bad in 3rd gear.

So, I pulled the plug..... looks to be lean. The plug tip isnt black or white, its almost a gold color like it has been run hot. The exhaust also has no carbon deposits. Exhaust is clean as could be.

Here's where I need help. What should I try to run for a main jet? Is the K&N just flat out flowing to much air? I have found a site that has jets for this carb for $6.95 ea but Im trying to keep from buying 20 of these things. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you need to adjust the air bleed screw which is under the worst spot you could think of.
I put a mikuni on my 110cc chopper and had the same problem till I adjusted it.
You need a screwdriver bit (a flat bladed one like you get with cordless drills)and nimble fingers,look for the screw under the front throat of the carby and screw it in or out till you get it right.
If you do a google search you should be able to find a bit more info if you get stuck.

you might also want to post this up on a pit bike forum, as they all run 4 strokes so will probably know more.
