| | | The all round tyre USER review *pun intended*
I have started this thread because I believe this is an important topic. We focus very much on gaining performance and reliability by modifying the engine and many other aspects of the mini-moto.
The tyre on a motorcycle is your only contact patch between the you the road. It is the key. If your running a good tyre the actual job of your tyres is usually forgotten and ends up somewhere in the back of your mind. If you have bad tyres on the other hand you could be going crazy trying to figure out what's wrong with your bike looking at everything trying to figure out why your bike has the road holding ability of a drunken mountain goat and vibrates like a jack hammer.
The goal of this thread is for you the Pocket Bike enthusiast to spread the word about what's hot and what's not in mini-moto tyres. This applies to not only your ebay bargains but also to top of the line racing slicks such as PMT and Sava tyres.
So here it is. This is your chance to post your feed back on tyres you have bought.
Things that should especially be noted is how round the tyres are because i've seen a lot that are closer to being egg shaped.
Please keep this thread on topic and idle chat to a minimum.
Please be sure to mention the brand of tyre and any specific details relating to it. If you've got good things to say please feel free to share where you got them from.

| | | Zhongya Super Soft Slick (Chinese)
Well I'll start this one off. I've got no photos at the moment but I'll see what I can do.
Zhongya Super sticky soft slicks.
Purchased from Ozminimoto sometime in 2006
First impressions.
It's a really good tyre. The tyre is well constructed and molded with only the slightest signs of being out of round. The bead is a uniform shape as is the tyre wearing tractive surface.
Result is that after first runs the bike is very very smooth to ride now with minimal vibration. When using the stock tyres the bike used to shake very badly and get very twitchy while cornering.
Lasting impression.
One hell of a set of Chinese tyres. I've still got the same set on my Samurai bike and it's been on there for I think 7 months now with a lot of use and they are still going strong and wearing well with what seems to be a lot of life left in them. I'm running tubeless and it's just all good. The ride is still dead smooth and the tyres are capable of much higher grip levels then I am prepared to push the boundaries of just yet. To give you an idea I haven't even got them lukewarm.
On a scale of 1 - 10 I give the Zhongya's a 8 for a Chinese budget tyre.
They were $18 each.

Crash dummy it is good you have brought this up but you are comparing apples with dimonds
Of course PMT will be the best then SAVA and last chinese and I think the price will refect that too.
So if you could be more specific because pressure is just as important as brand
eg: PMT with incorrect pressure may not perform as good as chinese with the correct pressure just
something to think about. |

Yes of course. Well I'd like to assume that a user who can go into this much detail about a tyre would also understand just how much difference adjusting the air pressure will affect the handling also.
I usually run about 25PSI on the tubeless Zhongya's. And about my rating. 8 out of 10 for a Chinese tyre. I'm not attempting to compare an apple to and orange here. I'd just like to express that. I just want to see people to share the price and origin.

crash dummy yes but some people will give their advice and not concider that point just putting it out there.
R1 riders I use a Zhongya tyres there is no other and the pressure is so important. I prefer treaded, you can ride in dry or wet 10/10
