Blata/GRC comparison

I have recived a couple of pm asking my opinion on the Blata Elite 14 R and GRC RR as I own both and to save writing this again in other possible pm's have decided to post my reply for others that it maybe of intrest.
Please keep in mind that these are my opinions, from the experince I have had and understand others may vary.

Opinion Blata vs GRC

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi XXXXXX, This may be a bit long and comprehensive, but you asked and as I under stand $2400 is a lot of money to some people so I will try to give you as much info as I know it so you can make a more informed decision, First let me say without knowing the bikes you wish to purchase, this information will only be a guess but I will start with the Blata Elite 14 wrs. I own a Blata Elite 14 R which is a 5 port aircooled so I can only safely give you my impressions of this bike, I must also tell you that I am sponsored by Oz minimoto which are suppliers of genuine Blatas to Australia but will and always do give my honest opinion on products and other matters, as I know only to well from personal experience, after owning many bikes and not being satisfied (only wish I had someone to give me good honest and unbiased advice when I started, thats why that is what I will always do) Well the Blata Elite 14 R is a mini bike not a midi which means it is about 10 % smaller but I own a Lucky 7 if you know these bikes it is very closely comparable in size just a bit smaller. I am 40 years old and 6 feet tall and weigh 90 kg and have raced this bike straight from the box with great results and I fit on this bike comfortably

I will now try to list things that I think are important in order and compare between Blata and GRC. (although my GRC is a 50 cc BZM and ported by Maylands Performance)

Handling:
Blata Elite 14 : This Bike has a firmer ride than the GRC but not much you do really feel whats happening on the track and it gives you a lot of confidence to push the bike to its limits ( although I think I am at my limits not the bikes and when the pressure is on am finding I have been pushing the bike more without it getting unstable, still feels right and holds the track)

GRC: this bike handles extremely well also, and believe that it has built into the frame some flex so as to be able to compensate for not having suspension. This is what I think gives it the softer ride but do not find it gives any more feel to whats happening on the track than the Blata.

Power:
Well as I have said previously I only have a Blata Elite 14 R which is air cooled, but this bike develops a tremendous amount of power and gets it to the track effectively. It is a more linear type of power which I like as it seems more controllable than just cutting in violently, (not sure about wrs power but believe with the power and frame would be a weapon, and very enjoyable ride)

Grc: Its hard to compare this bikes power with what your looking at as it is a 50cc BZM with a 18 mm dellorto modified by BZM it was built to suit my riding style after much discussion with Maylands performance and is a very powerful but easy to ride. I think the 40cc you are looking at would be very fast and easy to ride fast, but once again I don't know its history.

Spares: I do believe that Blata spares are cheaper and can be readily sourced trough OzMinimoto, and as I own both Blata and GRC can see no difference in the quality.

Steering Dampener: My GRC has an adjustable steering dampener and I love the feel it gives through the corners and straights as any unevenness in the track is not transmitted to me so it doesn't through your line off.
Blata: I do not have a steering dampener fitted to the Blata but this bike has not been affected by the unevenness in the track either, not sure why but can only put it down to the quality of euro bikes ( as my lucky 7 feels the bumps) the is also a previous post on here to back this statement from Maylands Performance as we gave one of their riders a go on the Elite 14 R and they said the same, compared to their cag.

My Final bit of advice though is to talk to the experts in the field, and the 2 that I have found that not only know the stuff extremely well but will also give great unbiased views are:
Darren from OZ Minimoto (for the Blata and other info)
and
Brian from Maylands Performance.
This is not to say that the are not others, I just have not had the pleasure of meeting them.
Also I am a bit concerned at the price of the GRC you are looking at, as this seems to be a bit cheep, not saying the is anything wrong with it, but maybe look a bit closer at its history.

Just one final note if you decide to go a Blata maybe you should look at a new one from OZ minimoto as the price $2400 isn't far from the new price and at least you would know the history, and getting the bike from a reputable dealer.

Any way all the best in what ever decision you make and happy racing sure you will get results with either bike.

Genuine Blata Origami B1 vs Genuine Blata Elite 14 wrs

O... and the new Genuine Blata Origami B1 Fila is only 2499 very very good price.

o... any tell me that the different between the Origami B1 and Elite 14 wrs in term of handling and power, cost i belive that they have the same engine(pls correct me if i'm wrong).

i just don't understand why the Origami cost so much more? (Elite 14 wrs cost $2,790.00 and Origami B1 cost $3,150.00)

As previously stated the Origami B1 is a MIDI bike,(larger), the Elite 14 WRS is a MINI bike,(10% smaller).

Now engine wise, both are 40cc,(approx).

The Origami engine runs a 19mm PHVB Dell'Orto carby, rated at 14hp.
The WRS engine runs a 14mm PHVA Dell'Orto carby, rated at 13hp, this engine has also been upgraded internal with a fully balance race crankshaft.
The design of the engine externally looks the same, but the casting internally are very different.

If a 19mm carby is fitted to the WRS engine it will have more power than the Origami.
But, now Blata has developed a new 'Victory' exhaust and new ignition system for the origami, (around $500-$600), which has not yet been developed for the WRS.
Blata has claimed this exhaust and ignition system increases the power by 3hp.

This will now make the Origami more powerful than the WRS.
Another development from Blata is their B1 Origami Kit model.
The Kit model claims 2.5hp more power and they use Sava MB tyres.
Other developments are a genuine steering damper, which will be avaliable in the next few weeks from Oz Minimoto.

Blata has also developed a 125cc Motard, which will be avaliable soon.

Blata are always working on new improvements they can make to their range of minimoto bikes.

Blata elite 14 R ride

just had my first rid on a genuine blata elite 14 R and it was wicked
Handling: it handles like a dream and the PMT's help alot i gave it 2 much turning and bounced on the back wheel and they saved me from dropping the bike, wuld probly go even better with the steering dampner.

Power: the power compared 2 a cag is so much better and i would say this bike would easy keep up in the water cooled class

i would like 2 thank ian for letting me ride the best bike i've ridden in a long time and would never turn down a ride on that bike at all

THANKYOU IAN U LEGEND
