Ignition coil

I'm having dramas with the running and starting of my CAG after mods and reckon its not getting enough spark. I have adjusted the coil pick up so many times and could not get it any closer without touching if i tried.

My question is, with the bolts loose should both ends of the coil be able to touch the flywheel. Does the coil rely on both ends being close to the magneto to fire. On mine the left (looking at the flywheel) pick up wont even touch but i can adjust the right hand one. Any help?

you want both sides as close as possible without scraping the flywheel
most use a folded piece of paper or plastic laminate to get clearance

if you have a advance timing key make sure it isnt installed backwards
or if a stock key that the wodroff key is in place has not fallen out or sheered off

Ok. Well the rhs of the coil is adjusted spot on but the left side wont actually touch the flywheel. Might try my mates coil and see what happens.

In regards to the timing key i've installed it with the offset to the right side (looking at flywheel) so the flywheel is slightly more to the right at top dead centre. Does this sound right?

yep all good
also some bikes dont like a advance key makes them a ***** to start
did you run the key before you did your mods
& have you tried a dribble of fuel down the plug hole to see if it wants to kick
