RD RACING is an unknown quantity at this point
as with the big brothers in racing like gp bikes and cars, slicks are used for dry weather racing and tread patern tires for wet conditions, in dry weather racing the idea is to get as much rubber on the running surface for the best grip. this is why a tire with no tread works beast where a tire with the tread is needed to force out as much water as possible from the gripping surface for a dryer run.

You can't really have a debate about this, is it rather straight forward.
Slicks for dry.
Treaded for wet.
