by looking at the pic i would say they have drilled 2 holes throught the crank taking away the weight they just added. i believe this theoryto be better as some crankcase need to be modded just for a stock f/c crank. to fit added weight/materiel to the crank would make crankcase clearence issues. Lets do this easier if you could tell me the crankcase volume then i can tell you weather or not they added weight or took weight away

why do you need case volume to work out balancing of the crankshaft?

because i know what the volum of a crankcase is with a untouched f/c crank but if i knew the volume in that picture thing i would be able to tell weather the crank had weight added or removed

you dont think they drilled out these holes and then pluged them with a heavier material like lead, making this crank counter weighted, so the lighter area is at the opposite end to the big end bearing ?

F1, this is all your doings mate ha ha , its not just a drawing as such, this animation [ thanks F1 watercooled ] is a very handy piece for all new persons that are learning how these engines work. we have made this a sticky for all to look , gain knowledge and talk about on this forum, as you may have noticed i have started a bit of questioning regarding this as this will help out many in need, believe it or not. waite until i hit the hard questions. by the way guys i would like to keep this disscussion going so NO experts please.

lets stop the crankshaft disscussion for abit and get onto something a little different. Question; what do you think that green coloured stuff is in this engine ?
