glad to know this is a common problem with the center bolt i have had enough bad luck with one of my clutch shoes shattering, i ended up snapping the head on the bolt and freaked out, ill have to get one of these tools and hopefully should do the trick, how far did you drill in to the bolt i have no idea how long the bolt is and don't want to drill on further then it
even tho i have snapped the head should the backing plate still be able to come off or does bolt thread in the backing plate too? the reason why i asked was ive tried getting it off but it wont barge at all??
edit: thankfully i can answer my own question... yes the backing plate does come off after lots of banging, spray, swaring etc. Its explains why there was in the lip at the end of the crank under the bolt alot of green almost like super glue seems it was thread locker but man way too much seeing as its stil stuck on the crank and why i snaped the bolt head
going to try and file off 2 flat spots on the 1.5mm of bolt thats left and try and multi grip the last bit of bolt but dont like my chances as it just keeps slipping off any way
