Angry Beading Pumping The tyre!!

Hey lads!

I have a mates bike, trying to get it going for him and after a fair bit of mucking around at the tyre lads they finally got the tyre done, real hassle. Lots of swearing haha. Took 3 goes for them to get it done including the valve fixed. Only to find it had a small hole in it.

Went round to the bike shop and put the stuff they use in mountain bikes to patch up tubeless tires. BTW this is a tiny little hole in it too.

Well that was all good, went over to the tyre lads (different ones the others were helpful enough and didnt charge me, champs) Well this time they couldnt do it and we mucked around for a while, just couldnt get it to fill.

So what tricks of the trade are there, i tried small bits of rope around the tire but couldnt get a good fix around it. I read one of the posts outlining a glad wrap method, wondering if someone could clarify. I dont own a compressor myself, so if i am clear i could just prep it and go straight to a compressor and do it.

Thanks in advance Lads,

Jess

It's not an easy thing to do. The better quality tyres are'nt nearly as bad as the chinese tyres. Once the tyre has been taken off the rim it is hard to get it to seal again as the bead can deform. One thing i used to do (now have the availability of a mini moto tyre machine) is put dishwashing liquid around the bead and inflate with the inner part of the valve removed until it pops onto the rim. You then screw the valve in and inflate again. As you are inflating press down on the centre of the tyre to get it to form a seal on the edge. Chinese tyres are pretty cheap so it may pay to get a new one.
Good luck.

Sounding like it double. Because i have already tried that.

Im thinking though since the hole is so small i might just put a tube inside, hows that sound?

RD RACING is an unknown quantity at this point
what we used to do with the race bike tubeless slicks is we had what looked like a giant car oil filter remover which looked like a noose. the idea was to fit this noose around the outer perimeter of the tyre then apply pressure with the attached handle and then use the compressor with fast air [ no valve in] then the bead would set , replace the valve and pump up to desired pressure.

Only problem is with that method on small bikes, the amount of air needed is so much smaller.
I tried a similar method except with something more stretchy. It could explode with something else.
