2005 Australia Pocket Racing Titles

Hi Fellow Racers

Pocket Racer has organised the 2005 Australian Pocket Bike Titles. We have stepped forward to organise this series as we run race meeting every week with up to 100 riders per meeting. Which we believe is the largest events of there kind in Australia, closely followed by Braxton at the GP Training Centre in Vic which have 70 – 80 riders approxiately once a month, We have had long discussions with him in trying to find the most common classes to run as a Australia Title.

A Race Series with 3 rounds at 3 completely different tracks.. in two different class of bikes and 3 different classes of riders…

We have access to full computerised lap timing equipment as well as big screen speed radars, to display speeds on.

There are some guideline rules set out at the moment and they can be found at:

http://www.pocketracer.com.au/webcontent30.htm

THESE ARE JUST GUIDE LINES and want feedback.. we want the racing to be as fair as possible.

We know a few other importers and dealer are pissed off, but we ALL want to turn this fad into a sport.. POCKET RACER IS OUT THERE DOING STUFF.. not just sitting around a computer talking about it.

Pocket Racer ( Australia ) putting up $$$$ plus time to organise this and if anyone has a problem with these RULES .. PLEASE discus it ..lets get an even playing field for us all.

WE WILL CHANGE ANY RULE THAT WILL GET MORE PEOPLE TO RACE FAIRLY..

e.g. if you don’t want head and barrel kits then.. simple.. if the MAJORITY don’t want it .. then they are OUT !!

e.g. if someone can come up with a STOCK CLASS formula then .. we are open to suggestions… but I believe it is IMPOSSIBLE as the number of differences we have seen would be unfair, our STANDARD motor is 2 KW and most others are 1.7KW.. we have tested most of the different brands on the dyno..

So a standard class WOULD BE in Pocket Racer’s favour which would not be fair.

For example - for a stock class

POCKET RACER could put up 30 – 40 identical engines from the SAME factory.. everyone picks one ... POCKET RACER team would pick thiers LAST.. and THAT WOULD BE FAR.. but people want to play with their engines and work them, that is half the fun.. and FUN is want this is all about..

But this would cost $$$ as everyone would have to buy a NEW engine.. and even at a sponored rate .. its still $$$.. and if one engine suxed then complaint after complaint.. it’s just better to set some rules and stick to them.

We want to race as many different Brand (including Italian brands) on a fair playing field. The GRC , Polini’s and Blata will be on the same tyres.. and therefore evening things up, and the majority of these bikes are under 40cc.

The series is for the MAJORITY not minority… but it will cost $$$$, you will need to travel, and Pocket Racer will $$$ “help” pay for transportation costs of bikes to and from Sydney ( For the NSW riders ) Gold Coast, Adelaide and Melbourne. The rest of the country we can help via extremely cheap rates on Couriers.. This way people can just fly down for the weekend and race.

If you don’t have $ 1,500 to race in this series then it may not be for you, as this should be a realistic race budget for a 3 round series. But most people should be able to afford $ 500.00 a month, as racing will be spaced 4 – 6 weeks apart. BUT if you live in a State racing a round of the series then at least you can have a go against the BEST of the BEST and enter just one round.

Pocket Racer will also offer a 10%-15% on any parts that will be used in the race series.. this discount system is to be confirmed and will be organised closer to the events.

Pocket Racer are not trying to control this FAD .. just trying to turn it into a NATIONAL SPORT with a set of common rules over all states.

What is the use of having one set of rules in Vic , Qld and S.A. if someone in NSW has another set.. we could never race on the same playing field.

Our racing in Qld has been running successfully for over 12 months and the rules have grown from this experience.

Please have a read of the proposed rules and please make constructive comments

If you don’t like something.. SAY SO.. And see what the majority have to say.

We could organise a voting system for CONFIRMED registered people.. NOT one person voting 10-100 times to get there way.
http://<br /> <a href="http://www.p...tent30.htm</a>have a read and a good long think about it.. then .. make your comments

Martin Brien
The Pocket Racer Team

P.S. Mark – Ozscoot - grow up will you. Help instead of hinder .. if you have a problem with any rules then .. tell us.. have them changed. I want to beat your team fair and square. That’s what racing is about, you are taking this too personally, help the sport, and prove your product on the track, action speak louder than words

Thanks for taking a hold of the sport fellas. We've all had a whinge about Pocket Racer a some point, justifyably so. However the sport is still in it's infancy, so we can expect teething problems.
Iv'e heard supportive comments over the past couple of weeks regarding the Saturday night race meetings.

I cannot attend the Australian Championships, but I expect it will be a huge success.

It's interesting to read posts from the knockers of Pocket racer. I confess to making a contribution to the knocking myself, but after doing some research and talking to different suppliers of pocket bikes and accessories. Iv'e come to the conclusion that.....At least Pocket Racer hold stock, don't engage in ridiculous arguments in an open forum and are making an effort to supply what racers are asking for.

It's just going to get better I think.

Cheers John.

Hi Martin - Glad to see you join and participate in this forum

I've sung praises of Parklands where due and had my critical say where I felt I should. But at the end of the day, PB Racing IS evolving and getting better over time. I have to say that at this point of time, Pocketracer have been at the forefront of this evolution and everyone else to date is a wannabe or gonnabe.

If we were in NSW it sounds like racing would be a non event as from what I've seen MA want their pound of flesh and we would all be forking out their fees and licence costs to race (And read their 2005 Manual of Motorsport to see just how complicated they can make it - 266 pages of rules written by rocket scientists) - Let's hope they never get their claws into this sport. Don't we want to keep it "reasonably" cheap, simple to comply and accessible to many?

The only posts on this site about real racing come from SE Qld - Say's something in itself!

As for the Proposed National Championship, yes, I would love to be there but logisticaly and financialy may not happen, but we will at least compete in the local event, and I will have my say re my views on certain aspects of the regulations. I'm pleased to hear that it will be a "majority rules" to decide some points and I think that is a fair and democratic aproach.

THE SEQ yes

but we have many requests for

Queensland Titles.. not just the South East..

Bundy, rocky .. etc .. might all be rounds.. ALL TO BE CONFIRMED...

We are trying to get the National up and running first..

I know this might be out of the budget for most.. but it would be fun to kick some Vic ***...

Because Braxton and the Vic boys thinks they are gong to kick ours .. hehehe

Its going to be interesting...

It should be fun..
