| | | leaking carbie
i bought a brand new 47cc cag engine from a mate, and once i'd done everything about putting it on the bike etc. i noticed that the carbie was leaking? as it is brand new, i thought that it was normal, but im just curious if there is a problem or not?

Where is it leaking from? If it's out of the overflow, it could be a blockage. These things don't come that clean from the manufacturer. If it's from somewhere else, it Gould be that the bowl isn't screwed on properly or a gasket was forgotten or a screw is missing. As these things are assembled by idiots in china (and I'm not insulting the Chinese) they often haven't the skills to assemble these things. Go over it. Tighten up all the screws, nuts and bolts. Make sure it's right. Only takes a few minutes and it's a great way to learn how they work.

Hey mate,
Are you using the choke? Maybe it is on and would be normal than when the bike is hot it dies.
The little lever on the side of the carb, just before the air filter.

either that or you need to play with the screw that has the sprin in it....thats the idle screw..look on the side of the carby and you will see the screw with the spring on it...tighten to raise the idle or loosen to lower the idle.
Work at half a turn at a time. if you tighten it too much, it'll rev it's guts out, if you loosen it too much, it wont run...oh yeah and make sure the choke is off...

ive set the idle, it runs nicely while it runs, but it dies anyways, i've cleaned out the jets twice, the whole carby is pure and clean, what is wrong now?
