Welcome to my nightmare

Hey Guys,

My son was given this pocket bike. From what I understand it is a cateye 49cc. Thats all I know.
I'm into this about a month now. I actually built a Harley from the ground up in almost as much time. I'm embarrassed to say this little thing is giving me this much trouble. If anyone can help, i'd really appreciate it.

So here's the deal... When we first got it, the first thing I did was clean out the tank. Replace the fuel lines, and knock the dust off everything else. I put fresh gas in it primed the carb and pulled the rope. It sputtered for about 5 seconds and that was it. I was happy with that. Now to a real cleaning... I completely rebuilt the carb with the aid of the head engineer at Walbro carburetors. Don't know how I managed that, but I wasn't complaining. After much work on this tiny carb, I can say that I am now a Walbro expert. The carb is functioning 100%. So I have a new carb (so to speak), a new spark plug that gets an excellent spark out of the cylinder head. I can't get this thing to fire to save my life. The compression at the head is about 150 pounds, which surprised me for such a small motor. The carb works fine, tested on motor and off motor. What stumps me is that I can spray some starting fluid into the head and it won't fire either. I tried pouring some gas right into the head and still no fire. Now all the electronics are hanging off to the side and disconnected. I am 99% sure that nothing has to be connected for this thing to run. After all, it did fire once when we got it. So I have 2 questions.. 1- Can anyone tell me exactly what I have, model, etc. 2- If I have a spark outside of the motor, why will it not ignite the starting fluid for even a small pop when the plug is installed?

If anyone has the time, i'd really appreciate it.. so would my son. Attached are a few pictures to help ID this thing.

Thanks

Hi mate,

Looks like on one of your picture that the spark plug cable is not connected anywhere... That would not help having the bike running

For anyone else that may come across the same problem, the coil was bad. It would activate the spark plug outside of the motor but would not when it was installed. Replaced it and it runs like a champ.

Proposal : It might not be something wrong with the ignition system

Piston rod bearing seals might be broken if they are allowed to dry for a long time.
The bike has been forgotten for a while??.

Will not start when it's too poor with air mixture.
