Alexwarehouse has a 5 speed $29

Alexwarehouse has a 5 speed listed for some Lifans.

NOW $29 and you and can buy ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately they want a "Low Order Fee" of $100. Even on 4 units it is still added on.

They say shipping is USPS (4-8 days) $62 for 4 units.

See link here.

Lifan 5 gear shift drum and transmission complete 5 gear shift drum 5 gear transmission shaft kit five gear shift system dirt bike horizontal engine [S3360] - US$29.00 : Alexwarehouse Industrial LTD

Does anybody know anything about this and what it fits?

Description:
performance Lifan 5 gear shift drum and transmission shaft
this may fit Lifan 110 kick start engine, Lifan 125 kick start engine and some other brand 110 125 kick start horizontal dirt bike engine
we are this gear system developer and we got this product to market but we only sell to dealers for this gear

Does anyone know if they shift right and don't break, and what they really fit?

Don

You might want to try this question on the Miniriders Forum. It's more up their alley.

these chineese 110/125 engines etc gearbox's have a limited lifespan I have found . I have used one of these and found it lasted no longer than anything else on the market . They are not the easiest thing to install either unless you are familiar with the engine and have a couple of special tools needed for rebuilding and pulling one down . It's almost easier for some people just to buy an engine already kitted with one as these engines are **** to rebuild . I mean the casing casting is so soft and inconsistent if the gearbox does last it will just eventual punch through somewhere, I am not joking .

They seem to handle a single rear wheel of a dirt bike on loose dirt ok , put one in a quad with dual rear wheels and they don't last long ( done this once), rebuilt it with 5 speed box and kept auto clutch then transfered it into a bitumen go kart, lasted not even 5 laps . Done this again with a fully clutched new 125cc lifan 4 speed and lasted even less than 5 laps .

And it was always 3 rd gear that was the problem or went first .

The problem is these engines were ripped off Honda CT110 postie bikes . 3 speed/auto clutch . They have their limits and with a lot of these dirt bikes etc you are basically utilising something it was never ever designed to do .

Did you use the Alex 5 speed gear box or did I miss seeing another?

I have used one once and it lasted no longer or shorter than stock .

It doesn't add top speed if your thinking you have another gear to go and reason for doing it . Just spreads the gears out differently .

About the best mod anyone can do to these engines is the internal fly wheel magneto you will see on Ebay.

That with building a dual vacuum fuel pump between the tank , carb and removal of floats and seat with a return line run along frame and returned back through the breather on the fuel tank cap .

You can also machine roller bearings into the top Cam if your engine doesn't have them .

Best to start with an oil coiled 140cc Lifan .
