tips needed to improve riding skills

i've just taken on this sport and actually introduced it to whole new market. i'm trying to improve the way i ride my bike so i can improve my time and pass on the knowledge to other freshies (which is everyone who's riding them with me).

one of my biggest hurdles is taking on a turn properly. i've been trying and trying but i just can't get my knee to the ground on the turns. the foot peg hits the ground way before i can get my knee anywhere close to it. from looking on at the videos of other riders, i've noticed that they've positioned their feet so that the soles of their feet are facing inward towards the bike. i've tried, but i gotta say its not only difficult but highly uncomfortable as well.

as for shifting weight to the side you have to turn to, is it just me or does it feel like every time you shift weight the bike for that split second loses weight on the back end and so loses grip, hence it feels like i'll just lose the back end and crash.

I would really appreciate any and all the help you guys have to offer. it'll go a long way in me improving my own riding skills and also of others. cheers.

(anyone know of any insturctional video out their, please let me know! a visual presentation is always helpful)

I've always rolled my ankles over to get the knee closer to the ground. Maybe try out some of the hook style pegs, this will help. I tend to never ever sit in the middle of the bike, always move early in preparation for the next turn. One thing we've done with the juniors over here is get them to ride around in circles, slowly getting faster and faster hence more and more lean angle. Once you start getting close the black art of counter steering comes into play. Just push lightly away from you on the inside bar (left corner/left bar) and the bike will magically drop over further into the turn.

Try the riding around in circles thing mate, you'll get there, as CLaw stated PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!!!!
