sealing exhaust.

hey guys,
Well i got a blata B1 rep., and i was wanting to seal the exhaust where they connect if you know what i mean.(in between the header and the expantion pipe, header and barrel.)
I got some of that high temp silocen, is there a method to follow to do it correctly?
do you wipe all the excess silocen away or leave it? how do you guys do it? any prep before you start to make sure it doesnt get blown off by the exhaust gasses?

thanks

andy.

Give both surfaces a thorough clean with 'metho' or 'wax and grease remover'..
Give both surfaces a good brushing with a wire brush to ensure all built up junk is removed..
Again give both surfaces a good wipe down with metho or grease remover..

Apply gasket sealer to pipe and assemble..

Have a good think about where to apply it, so as when you push the two together it is no going to ooze to the inside of the pipe.. Any excess on the outside I don't wipe away, instead I leave it there and wipe it all around the whole joint and onto both side's of the join, but no overkill is required on the outside..

If you try to apply the sealer to a dirty, oily pipe.. It will blow out in no time at all..

yeah i know it wont make it faster i meant sorta like make it more reliable eg: changine spark plug, replacing bolts with high tensil ones, replacing fuel lines and filter.. those sorta mods. are there any other poot pegs that fit the blata rep because they look kinda weak to me..?

You'll have to make up a custom bracket that will attach to the frame bolts, then have the bracket hang down so you can fix the pegs to it and you can then fit whatever pegs you like..

oh k i think i get what u mean.... does any one have pic of this or a pic of fotpegs they have put on their blata rep?
oh and just to put it out there, i just drilled a small whole in my pull stater cover so you can see the water pump pully and the belt, best thing i have ever done now i dont have to take the cover off all the time. highly recomend blata rep owners do this.

thats a genuine blata one but its all i could find. a simple plate cut out and drilled for the two bolt holes would do. then just use some tube as a spacer. theres a german pocket bike forum with tons of pictures of blata reps and nearly all of them have it done. but i cant find the damn link! argh. ill post a few pics if i find it
