Banshee head gasket

Hey all

I was wondering what head gasket i should use in my banshee. Ive successfully re-set the squish and got massive power gains by drilling out the joiners in the 3 ply mls gasket that came in my banshee and used the middle layer for the head gasket. and also making my own gasket for the base with autobarn gasket material. However I have heard that this head gasket can leak coolent into the cylinder (which would suck *** although so far its been fine). My mate has ordered a banshee so we are going to reset the squish on it so I thought I may as well upgrade the headgasket on both of them at the same time. Will a BZM 50cc gasket fit? I dont really want to do any machining, Any suggestions?

do you mean the MLS gasket or the base gasket?

for the MLS i think re-using the original one is the only thing that shape. as for the base gasket the banshees dont have the water works running to the bottom of the cylinder like the BZMs and polinis so youll be fine to just use whatever gasket you can find.

just put some hylomar gasket sealer on there to seal it up

if you want a better solution to the MLS gasket just get the o ring cylinder from pocket racing bikes i know at least 4 people running them now and go alright. should knock a few hundredths of a mil of the squish.

I meant the head gasket. I made my own base gasket. If i have to get a new cylinder to upgrade the head gasket i dont think ill bother for now. Sounds expensive. or are you refering to the polini replica cylinder? If so do you need the polini rep head to go with it? will there be any power gain or loss changing to this cylinder? Im not a fan of replica parts.

I second what BJ has said.
Pocket Racing Bikes sell an O ring head that fits straight onto the banshee cylinder with no modifications. Just get a BZM gasket kit while your there and set your squish and install the O rings and your done. Your engine will go harder with the raised cylinder as well. You'll ended up with all your ports raised a good .35 - .70mm depending on what configuration you previously used.

Highly recommended and very cheap to fix this stupid design issue once and for all. Also i've suffered from the leaky separated MLS gasket myself. The bike ran fine and didn't leak coolant into the cylinder (BJ's did) but the cooling system was constantly pressurised and would pump the water out into the overflow bottle. If you gave it good rev then you'd get sprayed with water. The final straw was when it would seap out the join between the head and cylinder between the gasket. Not cool

Hey crash. Im not sure I quite understand how changing the head will raise the ports. Is it because with the new head you can lower the squish further and use a thicker base gasket?

Ok,, yeah im still not following you.But why would I raise the barrel? Arn't I lowering it to lower the squish? And how does this change by putting on the polini rep head intead of the stock head?

ok with the stock head you need to lower the barral as much as possibe to get the squish down but with the polini rep head you need to lift the barral up (using gaskets to get the .5 squish becasue the o rings have a lower gap on the head than the gasket ..get me now

yeah i think if you swap to the o ring head youll probably have a squish of 0 :P so you need to bump it up with base gaskets to get the right height.

crashes banshee definitely goes like a rocket when its on the power band so they work great.
