6/68 will be better than 8/68 by a long shot but 8/68 will give you a very good top speed.
The thing to remember is the higher the bigger the difference in numbers. The ratio the more acceleration you get. 6/80 would wheelie and want to snap your neck where as running 8/60 would be extremely slow to accelerate but would give incredible top speed if the engine has enough power to make it there.

I always found 7/68 was a great combo for CAGs for track work. 6/62 works very nicely too.

awesome thanks for the help man
im pretty sure im running the standard 6 68 gearin on my cag,, it hits a pretty good top speed, has an awesome top end, but i really wanna bring the front end up off the line...
although its really annoyin coz im gonna lose alotta top speed.
wot about if i use somethin like 7/74 or something like that...

7 would increase my top speed, and the 74 is a quicker acceleration..
wot u guys think
ill give u the mods that are on my bike and try help me out alrite

RD boostported cylinder head
Full circle crank
3 shoe clutch with 10 turn springs
jet pro pipe
Blue polini reeds with 5mm reed spacer
Hp Walbro Carby with v stack

wot u'z think?

Its the relationship between the two gears. Just devide the rear sprocket by the front sprocket. The higher the number, the more acceleration but lower top speed.

Eg. 70 rear, 7 front= 10

64 rear, 8 front= 8

The 7/70 will get off the line faster, but have a lower top speed. This is because the motor needs to turn 10 times for every 1 turn of the rear wheel. So if your motor is revving at 10,000rpm, the rear wheel will turn at 1,000 rpm.

With the 8/64, the motor needs to turn 8 times for every 1 turn of the rear wheel. So if the motor is doing 10,000 rpm the rear wheel will be doing 1,250 rpm resulting in a higher top speed. But this will produce less torque at the rear wheel and therefore wont pull quite as hard.
