why does a pipe crack? vibrations caused by metal to metal contact. the waves created inside a pipe when the engine is reving up and down say at a race comp can be more fierce than one would expect, plus having your pipe mounted straight to a metal fixing you are asking for trouble. look a moto cross bikes, they have a solid [rigid] mounted engine just like the cags and piston port bikes but they have rubber insulator mounting points at the rear of pipe to frame plus high temp viton o rings at or in the exhaust manifold area. if you fix your pipe with rubber isolator mounts ect you will notice alot less vibration when riding and your pipe will last without cracking.
