18mm keihin Carb 4 stroke... advice required

Anybody bought the kamakaze 88cc big bore kit upgrade?

well it comes with a PC 18 Keihin Carb... supposedly, it looks worse built that the chinese sheng wey (which i really like as far as carbs go), so i'm wondering if it's also a copy.

Anyway, the carb comes with a 95 size jet, but i cannot get it to run smoothly with my 88cc 4 stroke engine. It always sounds/reacts starved at the top end and backfires violently on decceleration.

It's meant to be a good carb, but currently performs worse than my chinese ones. Is there a particular setup i need with this carb? any larger jet sizes? (also, where do you get jets for these?)

RD RACING is an unknown quantity at this point
have you checked to make sure your manifold gasket / gaskets are fitted perfect, as the back firing is an indication of excess air leakage on compression braking. Keihin carbs are also used on kawasaki bikes, so parts are available from kawasaki dealers.

thanks rd. i will try a kawasaki outlet for some larger jets.

yes, manifold was sealed on with gasket sealant and bolted down firm.

i should think the 18mm would be big enough for an 88cc??
