| | | Banshee SHO Bling Upgrade! Polished Banshee Clutch Housing Polished Banshee Pullstarter Time Spent: 3-4hrs Stuff i used to do the job:
-Power Drill
-P360 &P180 Wet & Dry Sandpaper(probz not the best but thats all thats was on my shelf)
-Wd40 or somethign simular(to work with whilst using the sandpaper)
-Josco Industrial Range Jumbo Metal Polishing Kit #JMPKIT(about $40 from bunnings)
-Degreaser and rag at the end to clean off the residue. Tips:
-Make sure your drill can stay below 3000rpm(thats what the Josco gears rated at,though i think mine spun past that anyway with no dramas)
-At the end once youve finished and cleaned off the residue, hit it with the final buff thing for a sec to ensure it leaves with a shine and carefully manage it making sure you dont get any fingerprints on all that hard polishing work
-Wear eye protection as you would |

| | Cases finally painted,drying.. The end result with black cases Conclusion: Alot of fiddling around, sanding and prep work, plus almost having to pull out the crank after having thread troubles, that didnt help.
Its really something better done when the engines being assembled, less handling of parts and a much better result without all the masking off work needed. I had to respray it a second time, because first time i chose not to remove the clutch and flywheel, there being was a dodgey finish round the edges of the clutch and flywheel face.
So with the second attempt i took off the clutch and flywheel. Sprayed it and let it dry over night as i do. When it came time to putting it back to together i was starting to grudge my "better finsh theory"as my crank thread on the flywheel side was giving me dramas(stock banshee crank so ill let it off because it goes hard).
With the engine in the great state of tune and configuration i really didnt want to pull all the R&D work apart so i sat down, got comfortable on the chair and slowly worked the thread back into its original grooves and thankgod it chose to co-operate. Other than that im pleased with the outcome and look forward to seeing it back in the bike PS.Should b shinier/cleaner but has crud and residue over it still, due to flushing out the internals before selaing putting the manifold back on. Making a mess ive since run outta petrol and degreaser stuff so apologeez for presentation in and around the cylinder stud especially |
