Phil and I stuffed the ZPF into the boot of the wife's MR2 on Sunday and took it for a shake down trial (fold the bars in and remove a foot peg if you're wondering).
Goes good, brakes are progressive and strong, could do with some more bite, but there's a big range of pads available for the Grimeca system 8, so plenty of options to try.
Forks are good, didn't snap, neither did the triples... both passed the 'run over a drain grate at speed' test, so good there too. The reduction in fork to steering head offset has calmed the bike down a little. The wider bars also make it a little easier to control. Phil noted that it's the most confident I've appeared on it, so must be moving in the right direction.
Keen to move the seat hump back 2 inches (will involve cutting the rear frame brace/hoop off) so that I can stretch my legs a little, and lean over the front a bit more.
Have the guard at home, but have been sick. Will extend the legs and take a splash mold this week if I'm feeling better. Wasn't keen to take it too far, wouldn't like a stone through a rad... should probably add a little mesh to the front of it at some stage.
PMTs were nice to ride on, still not sure how much air to run... front felt good, but fill reckoned the rear looked at little flat, I think there was 22 in the front, 24 in the back, but I'd have to check, has been sitting for 2 weeks.
Overall impression was that it was very smooth (as you'd expect, new bearings/wheels/discs/tyres/etc), tip in was a little slower, smooth transition on lean. Was really nice to have the brakes evenly matched in lever pull and power, a lot more confidence inspiring knowing that pulling the lever has the exact same good feeling/power pull every time you reach for it.
The hydraulic brakes are really good for (accidental) fluid loss, no matter how you tip and turn them nothing ever leaks, which is good to know. Bleeding them is disgustingly easy. They came with reverse bleeding kits with a syringe etc, but they're unnecessary and typical bleeding techniques are more than sufficient.
