| | | Blata Rep bigbore
Hey all,
I’ve just received a 45cc head kit for my Blata rep as well as some new cases. Examining the new barrel I have found that the locating flutes protrude into the intake port of the new cases by about 3mm, I checked the barrel with my old cases and found it did not protrude and match basically flush. I have compared my old cases with the new cases and found the new cases intake port is on a slightly decreased angle thus exposing the bottom barrel flutes. Has anyone experienced this before? and could anyone offer advice about how this may affect performance if I bolt it together as is, or can the barrel/case be modified?
Cheers Brady

All the blata rep big bore kits have the locating pin where the port is..
This is extremly poor design on the manufacturers behalf.. Basicly every time the piston goes up and down the piston ring will open up and snag itself on the port, over time or very soon it will completly destroy the piston, ring and barrel..
In short you should have saved you money..

Hang on a sec..
I think i'm on a completely different point to what the OP asked..
Brady, are you talking about the locating pin on the piston or the base of the barrel??

Thanks for the replies boy's.
I'm talking about the bottom of the barrel. It would seem that due to a different casing design on my new cases (intake angle change); the bottom of the barrel extends about 3mm into the intake port air flow. I have an uneasy feeling about modifying the barrel to fix this issue, probably best to toy around with modifying the case intake or leave well enough alone..
P>S I have already moved the ring locator on the piston to reduce the chance of barrel damage due poor design after reading the posts in this forum.
I appreciate your advice
Cheers Brady

Thanks for the headsup,
I will post some pics of the piston pin change and case porting I have done next weekend if my wife does not give me to many jobs around the house. Hope to have it back at lakeside in a few weeks for run-in and testing.
Thanks for your input
