| | | looking for a billet reedcage for a BZM motor
as the title states im after a billet reed cage to suit a BZM motor , but i have never seen one before so im not even sure one exists.
i know PBU make one but if it fits or not i dont know.
reason im looking is my reed cage isnt sealing flush with the reeds when i tighten the reeds in anymore. could be i over tightened the screws or maybe the VP 109 warped the plastic. either way a billet cage will solve this.

so your saying that your reeds have bent?
if so, a billet cage will not help at all, just flip the reeds over

Grevs I can't help you with the billet cage but I can offer a suggestion. I had a problem with the banshee of the same kind. I couldn't get the reeds to seal nice and tight. I ended up getting a sheet of glass and putting some wet & dry paper 800 grit acros the surface and around the edge then lapped the flat surfaces that the reeds seal against. With the except being I would avoid the flat surface that the reeds are screwed against. I then use a file to lightly angle that surface to force the reeds to bend ever so slightly against the sealing surface. Worked for me!

ok,let me put some light on this subject, get rid of your high octane fuel as your gain is minimal and high octanes DO destroy your carbon reeds, wether they warp them or eat the edges away is a major problem.bzm make a red anodized alloy reed box for the 4.2 a/c engine which i experimented on and opened up the other side of the box so it would take 2 reeds as it only takes 1 originally, that worked pretty good.To solve your problem i would just get another bzm reed box and stop using that fuel, and your motor will last longer with 98 pump fuel, believe me as i have built alot of euro engines and have seen the signs from high octane engines to normal ones.you can take this advice or ignore it,but i know for a fact it is the high octane doing this to your reed box, etc.

yeh i gather that the high occtane fuels do more damage then reg fuel, but they also increase power . How much i dont know. Only Bollins would know that. i may just go back to reg PULP .

if you got a hole year out of one set of reeds thats prity good lot of the time i change them maybe 3 to 4 times a year they lose there stiffness after a wile if you use fibre glass reeds you should change them even more often then carbon fibre reeds i dont know exactly why but fibre glass become alot softer after a bit of use, race fuel or no race fuel 1 year is still a good life time, professoinal gokraters some times change reeds in betwen races lol over kill if you ask me
