| | | crankcase bearing ratings
I have read on here C4 bearings are the way to go for a blata rep engine. What i want to know is what difference might it make to run C3 rated bearings?

C3 and C4 bearing's signify the clearance of the bearing. The higher the number the looser the tolerances which means it can get hotter before the metal expands far enough that the balls seize into the races.
So if you need C4 bearings. Don't use C2's unless you want shrapnel in your motor.

can I get away with running a C3 rating on a 40cc balata rep air cooled engine?

either c3 or c4 bearings are good....however there are different types of bearings you can buy,one has a plastic insert cage the other has a metal cage.

good to know,
The seals are easy to take care of in terms of the metal or the rubber, I probably will get the 2-RS instead of the ZZ as its easier to flick the sucker out.
A bit of a different topic but are the oil seals from a bearing place any different than those that blata might sell as spares?

Funnily enough, i picked up some NTN 6202 C3 bearings yesterday (not 6203 as in blata rep/c1) and they only had seven balls. I've heard of similar bearings having nine balls but i'm not sure whether this pertains to c1 bearings being larger or not.
my 2 cents.

Claw
Oh, if you need bearings or seals, go to CBC. There is always one close to you ans their prices are really good.

the oil seals your refering to are crank case seals
i recomend buying genuine items as i personaly tried to run cheap seals and burnt them out in less that a tank of fuel as the genuine seals are high quality and i coudnt sourse a viton crank seal through any local bearing supplyer i have got some quality generic seals but i havent tryed them yet but for the price difference the saving isnt worth doing the job twice
oz minimoto sells the seals and darrens very good to deal with
