setting the squish is setting the clearence gap between the (crown) top of the piston & the top of the head (internal dome of the combustion chamber) around the outside edge of the piston
most people squash a piece of soft solder in there & measure the squish (how much the solder squashed) with digital Verina calipers
you want the squish set around the 0.5-0.7mm or what is recommended for your setup, this is adjusted by thicker or thinner base & head gaskets or changing the squish band or dome by machining them
