new member carbi questions

Hi all

I have a watercooled chineese bike which has a 47cc kit with performance reeds and 15mm phgb dell carbi, I was just wondering what jets should be in it. the motor runs with the standard carbi on but only runs with the del when theres i pour some fuel down the throat, so im thinkin the jets are wrong....also with the standard exhaust the carbi choke hits the pipe, what have people done to avoid this? before i pulled the motor down it was running ok but after rebuilding it the flywheel keeps chewing up the water pump pulley, i put a dial indicator on it and found it was running out .2mm Im not sure why it wasnt doin it before and it is now, so i just took a skim off on the lathe to square it up....

cheers
Josh

Pull the jets out of both carbys hold up to the light and see if there is a difference in size...It may give you an idea of which way to go with your jets...

What bike do you have ??? Blata rep ???

None of my std pipes hit my carbys on the Blata reps...

.2mm TIR really isnt that bad for a chinese cast part. just make sure theres no burs on the edges of the pulley.

if you mean the dellorto phgb i think the lift chokes hit the pipe? you can buy a cable or lever choke conversion for them.

obviously go through and clean it and make sure fuel is entering the fuel bowl (take the fuel bowl off and just open the tap and make sure its running through) then adjust the idle speed and idle mixture (the speed is the larger size one the mixture the smaller flush one near the manifold).

the idle jetting should be fine it would only be the main jet that would yield problems mainly. probably a 40-50 idle jet will be OK.

I looked at the carbi this arvo and it has 18 on the side so must be a 18mm, I checked the jets the main was a 97 and the other was a 60. I pulled the standard apart and it didnt have any numbers on the jet but had 60 stamped on the side and it looked about .6

what is the other tube with the 60 marked on it? the standard carbi doesnt have that only to main jet and tube.
know a couple things about carbs but thats about it...

bike is a mt-a4

carb is brand new....

thanks for the help

i think the prob was the idle mixture was not adjusted right, set that and it runs good, heaps more responsive then the standard carb. Need to get the rest of the bike together to see what it runs like at full steam.
