Space in the F2 frame is extremely limited. Your only carby options are the stock carby and Walbro pumper style carbs as they are very compact. Dellorto SHA 14 and replicas will fit too but you won't have enough room to fit an air filter at all.
I highly recommend the Walbro setup on an F2 because it is fully tunable with just a flat blade screw driver. For a stock carb or dellorto it's virtually an engine out job just to get to the carby.

It will fit but you won't be able to use the air filter. The best you can hope for is to install some wire mesh over the carby inlet using a hose clamp to secure it. Then put a peice of plastic (ice cream container) over the hole between the carby and rear wheel to stop junk from getting thrown at the carby. That should do the trick so that you can get away with running just wire mesh. Keep the bike on clean road and there's every chance the engine will be just fine.
It's all a compromise.

or instead of mesh, grab yourself some pantyhose from a supermarket for a few bucks and fold that over twice so the mesh is finer but still breathable then hold over the inlet or velocity stack with zip ties or something of that nature

Sikko. I've tried the pantyhose and they don't work. There isn't enough surface area to allow the engine to breath well. The other draw back is that all carburettors on these engines suffer from a little blow back of air which blows some fuel mix back out the throat of the carby. With pantyhose on the mouth of the carb it gets saturated in fuel and then the engine chokes and won't run.

You can't grind it out. That's the main support for the rear arms that hold your back wheel on. What is a better idea is to extend the engine mount plate and place the engine further forwards. Then having a new top engine mount made. Much safer and practical.
