I'd get a heat gun onto that engine to keen a very keen eye on it. I'm of the opinion that a CAG engine really shouldn't be run without the fan assisted cooling unless your running methanol. If the engine is running stock compression or perhaps a 13:1 kit you might get away with no cooling fins on the flywheel but I really think you'll be pushing it. Just be careful and make sure you run the mixture nice and fat until your sure. That engine will overheat VERY quickly if it's not being cooled enough.

To make sense of what i'm saying. Just look at how much cooling surface area there is on a CAG engine even with an aftermarket head kit. Then compare it to the surface area of something like a Blata air cooled engine and you'll start to see one has a lot of something that the other doesn't. The Chinese engine just doesn't have the fin area needed to cool itself from a light breeze passing on by.

I'd be happy to be proven wrong though!
