shoddy dirtbike cag

my mate got too fat to ride this (literally wouldnt even move haha) so he gave it to me for free.

now its sporting a ported and rejetted stock carb, three stage reeds, a machined down 50cc ZH barrel with 29mm wide exhaust port and .45mm squish (the squish was 1.4mm before i machined it argh) , full circle crank and lightened flywheel.

still running the crap fuel line, fuel filter, rusted solid chain, way out of alignment back wheel and genuine kwality LS spark plug now im having tons of fun with it ill have to get some upgraded those. i didnt expect it to take the beating it has haha!

heres some piccies.

and for the flywheel i found this is the best way to do it after trying 4 different ones. lathe the outside down to the same diameter then lathe the fins down to 1/3 the original length. its 20 grams lighter then the pre lightened flywheels you buy on ebay and 60 less then the stock one. and a whole let more balanced. 5 days of solid thrashing on grass and dirt and it hasnt overheated so yeah. thats my favourite mod of the week

definitely needs a better carb (it has zero bottom end) and clutch + im going to mount a jetpro underneath it with a custom header. that should give it a decent kick up the a55

giving the oregon scientific cam i bought a try when i was breaking in the engine. its a total POS (the cam not the bike.. well kinda haha) dont buy one. ill try get my real camera setup and get another vid now its all broken in running 40:1 and what not.

YouTube - Dirtbike cag breaking in

now to finish the pro cag off and give that a good beating i forgot how disturbingly addictive cags are.

that's got attitude! lol

these look like like fun.. Always wanted the motard tyre (with the road tyres and rims)

can you fit cag rims and tyres on these?

video was good. not the best quality.. just need to get a video of someone videoing you riding.. (did i say video too much then)

and chuck a set of bmx hangers on there..

hahah im dead sure scooter tyres will fit on the rims so i reckon if you put some scooter slicks on there you might be able to punt it around a track and if you use two cag front rims im pretty sure you could get them on there (might need some machining on the rear one). ill have a look later!

Yep, the video is shocking

Kinda reminded me of a land speed record chase at the start there going down that straight of dirt. And just as frighteningly unsafe as trying to break 1000kph.......

Lookin' good so far, Glen. Slip a BZM aircooled in it and see how it goes

question / opinions

with the pipe reckon it would harm it if i just cut the entire back half off and welded the muffler section about 40mm or so off the back of the "expansion chamber" (i use that term loosely).

its at least a meters worth of kinked pipework after that im sure cant be doing it any good. the pipe probably isnt tuned anyway so im not too concerned about hacking it up.

main reason i want to do it is because to get the exhaust out you have to rip apart the entire rear end of the bike. which is a big pain the ***.

think it'd work alright?

this is what it looks like.

got a banshee clutch jigged up in it today as well. can do some nice power wheelies now heheh. ill get a decent video this week if things go to plan

mate, why not. it would look good, more of a motard style.. and its not like your going to be hitting the jumps on it... (i hope).. if it foooooks up, buy a fatboy, jetpro or std pipe for it...
