nah dont listen to him mate.
Mine got slightly slower after i ran it in, but i think its becuase i did it too hastily, theres a chance your mate might be stressing his bike too much during his warm ups, just as long as you dont go full throttle straight away after each run, you should be fine.
If its going significantly slower you might just have a general pb issue, my mates fuel line was tied up and the more he rode it the tighter it got so it kept starving the engine, just check obscure stuff like that.

an engine that goes slower after abit of run in period is asking for your help. this is the same as us humans, when we run a fare distance we go abit slower. reason is both fitness temperature and fuel, an engine is only in a fit state when all is loosened up. when the engine gets hot it needs to go slower, if the engine wants more to eat , give it fuel. so the cure is; a loose engine, good air flow and good fuel.

mate, i would suggest after a bit of running in, CLEAN OUT THE CARBY~~~, then replace the 4 port with a six , then get a new pull starter kit with alloy pawl and pull start, and clean out all the fuel lines and then it should be right after that, it should add little power that was lost in the run in process
