| 2009 year in review.. It certainly was a massive year for the 'Small Wheels Sunday' events.. After getting of to a late start back in March due to major upgrades to the entire complex we soon got stuck into some cracking racing for Minimoto and Minitard..
Throughout the year we expanded and gave the opportunity for other like minded enthusiast to utilize our facility's and have as much fun as we do.. We were joined by the Scooter racers, Postie Bike racers, Supermoto Racers and the Motolite racers..
We certainly witnessed and participated in some fantastic racing action.. Saw big numbers across all categories, especially in Jnr Minimoto and Scooters.. A massive shout out to our Governing body AASA!! Also huge props to Queensland Raceways whom have backed and Endorsed us throughout the year..
On the 5th of December we attended the Queensland Raceways Christmas party/dinner/awards night.. The NBPBC was awarded Queensland Raceways most successful club throughout the entire year, trouncing the likes of the Ferrari and Porsche clubs.. The NBPBC was rewarded with a $2000 cheque from the CEO.. The only 2 wheeled club to run under the Queensland Raceways banner and eclipsed all.. So in turn big ups to all who attend our race meetings, you can all be proud to be part of something so successful in Queensland, also to all who helped with various duties throughout the year to make Lakeside the place to be..
There were some injuries throughout the year, the worst of them being 2 broken collarbones and 2 riders with ligament damage.. There was also some others with minor scrapes, burns and bruising.. So with the excellent safety conditions at Lakeside the injury toll was kept at a minimum.. Also huge props to 'Parasol Paramedics', the fully equipped and qualified emergency paramedics who have attended each and every single one of our race meets and events.. The paramedics certainly offer a massive piece of mind at any race event and we are lucky and privileged to have them at ours..
2009 saw the NBPBC feature in 2 popular kids shows, being 'The Shak' and 'Totally Wild'.. Also had Channel 7 come out and run a story on the Goverened and Endorsed Qld Titles and also featured in 2 separate news stories.. Then there was the 6 times we were featured in the local newspapers and once in Australia's leading motorcycle magazine, the AMCN..
Massive news for 'Small Wheels Sunday' events in 2010.. We will have a lap timing/counting system in place for all events, we will also have fully remote controlled caution lights in place around the entire circuit, in which there can be a full track caution or a specific section caution.. The lights will be connected to the lap timing system and everything will be controlled from the race control/rider briefing/sign on/presentation room.. The lights will also include a F1 style starting system, were riders will see a series of lights and as soon as all lights go out the race will commence.. The lap timing system and the start and full course caution lights will do away with the need for volunteer flaggies and lap score personnel and provide a more enjoyable day for everyone..
Other fantastic news for us is that there will be a fully covered pit bay spanning the entire length of the pits..
Other news for Lakeside in 2010 is a 4wd and motocross complex along with a hire go-kart facility.. 2010 will see Lakeside become a one stop motor sport enthusiasts haven and truly cement it as the Qld'sspiritual home of motorsport..
Once again special thanks to all who have volunteered their time and services in 2009.. Congratulations to each and every competitor..
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.. Stay safe on the roads if you are going away and see you all again in 2010 for some even better events/meets..
2010 calender will be posted early January..
