Race Report, 'Winter Sprint Series', final Rnd..

A massive days of racing for Small Wheels Sundays.. Big numbers across the board with 43 riders in total..
Today we were joined by Super Motards for the very first time, 5 riders turned up for testing to guage acceptance for future inclusion in our race days, one bike fell well within the noise limits and the other bikes just need to drop 2-5 dB's to be within the noise limit which can be done with some minor adjustments to their mufflers.. The Super Motards are definitely spectacular to watch and we look forward to future track days with them onboard..

We were privileged to have the presence of the Australian Junior Road Racing champion and former Hansen Racing team rider 'Mad Mike Jones at our track today, along with his family and his race bike on display all day.. Mike was happy to mingle amounst the crowd and talk to everyone from the jnr racers all the way through to the snr racers and parents alike.. He was also on hand to award trophys to all place getters in all respective classes and catergories..

The CEO of Queensland Raceways was also in attendance and enjoyed watching all our racers enjoying themselves on our fantastic track.. News directly from him is that, in the very near future we will have a 300m dirt section for Minimotards and Super Motards..

Further news from Queensland Raceways is that 'Motorcycle Racing' and 'track days' will return to the world heritage listed main racing circuit from January 2010.. Once again returning Lakeside Park to Queensland's premier and most historic purpose built racing circuit.. Which also means even more publicity for us, on top of the already giant spectator numbers that pour throughout the complex..

There was some excellent close, clean racing across the different categories of bikes, all offering some excellent viewing for both spectators and racers alike..

Today marked the end of the Winter Sprint Series.. Although it was a short series it certainly provided some excellent racing and some very close final results.. Congratulations goes out to every single rider who participated in the series..

Our next meet will be the 'Qld Titles'.. It is Qld's first ever 'Governed and Endorsed Titles'.. It is shaping up to be a very successful day and should expect to see the same great race numbers if not better.. With racers traveling from as far afield as the Gold Coast, Noosa, Bundaberg and all over Brisbane and the surrounding suburbs.. The Qld Titles will include Pocket Bikes, Minimotard and Scooters.. The super motards will be in attendance racing but not included in the Titles..

There was some minor bingles today, one requiring the paramedics to attend track side but the downed rider soon gathered themselves after an examination in the 'Track side Medical Center' and re-joined the racing for the rest of the day.. It was great to see the resilience of the young novice riders all bounce back up and continue after a 3 bike pile up into the 1st turn at the start of a race..

I urge everyone NOT to go running over to the main track if you hear an accident and especially NOT jump the fence to assist in the injured racers.. There is dedicated and qualified personnel who will act for any injured rider and spectator.. Please leave it to the professionals.. Same goes if there is an incident on our track, it only requires an official to run over and initially assist, if the rider seems to be seriously injured, the official will then call for paramedic assistance if deemed necessary..

As always.. A huge thanks goes out to our volunteers.. Mike Minter, Wendy and Alan Hansen.. We may very well be implementing a scheme along the lines of a 'family assistance fee', where family's will be required to pay an extra $50 for the year, if the family member/s help out with volunteer duties at the track say 10 times a year then they will be refunded their $50..

Congrats to all riders !!!! We'll see you all again for more great racing in 2 weeks time..
