Run down on costs to race / practice at WCR ?

Hey I've just started this new thread as hopefully a way of getting a run down of ALL costs required to get started in racing at WCR.

Yes I'm sure it's been posted elsewhere but many people like myself have a short attention span and do get bored with looking. So stick it right in front of us and then nobody can say I didn't know.

So how much does it cost to get started ?

Bike $xxxx
.........
Insert the rest under here.

The whole idea here is if somebody just bought a bike and wants to go racing they can be pointed to this thread with all the answers.
Ta.

If the appropriate information is posted in here for all I'll happily edit the thread as required and then sticky it.

Bike: $100-$6,000+
.
Safety gear: Helmet, gloves, ankle enclosed shoes, riding leathers(or similiar) that have protective pading.
.
WCR Costs:
Club licence: $50
Race licence: $50 (I think)
Practice nights: $35
race day: $75

Note: WCR will let you ride anytime during the week, but you have to share the track with private/hire karts. Practice time is soley dedicated to pocket bikes on tuesday nights 5pm-9pm

Seems fair enough to me. So would your typical riding gear be okay ? I don't what it's called but it's a type of synthetic material that has all the pockets inside to hold the protective bits such as spine guard, shoulder padding and all the other good stuff ?

Err that's the question. Is that type of stuff fine or would it be far better for me to need to splurge on the full leathers. Being able to get away with say $250 vs $500 for leathers sure makes things easier.

Another question.. Does anybody actually race CAG air cooled there ? or would I be the laughing stock if I turned up with one ?

Sounds ok to me, but your best off speaking to WCR directly about your safety gear.

How far is WCR from canberra? I've got a straight bit of sealed off road to practice on but there is no real opportunity to practice lines/corners... I really want to ride a track!!! Do people still race anywhere near canberra??

Cheers... Ev.
