Endurance Race 2008

Hi to all
I thought that this event deserves its own thread.
I'm hoping to making this event an annual event.
The Entry Forms for this event are available from Pooraka or can be Down loaded from the SAMRA site...heres the link SAMRA Event Calendar
I can't wait ..should be a top event not to be missed and there will be trophies for this event too.
Here are the rules for this event.
ENDURANCE RACE RULES 2008 SAMRA

*The aim of this race is to prove reliability of the bikes during a prolonged race event*

To win this race Teams are to complete as many laps of the chosen circuit in the given time.

This race is to be a 1 hour event for cags and a 1 hour event for Water-cooled bikes to be held at separate times.

The start of this event will be a Leman's style start with the riders running from the start line to their bikes starting them and racing.

Teams are to consist of either 2 riders and a lap scorer or if the rider opts to ride the event by themselves 1 rider and 1 lap scorer (Lap scorers must be supplied by the TEAMS)

The Direction of this event will be decided on the day by the tossing of a coin.

Lap scorers are to score for an opposition’s team .Not their own team. This will be decided on the day who scores for who.

Where there is a Team racing the riders in each instance must ride for at least 20 minutes of the hour.

Once the full hour has elapsed the riders will finish via the chequered flag at the finish line and lap scoring shall cease there after.

Fuelling of the bike will not be allowed on the track and may only be done in the area set aside by the organisers of this event.

There will be Trophies supplied for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each class and will not be divided in to senior and junior as they are able to race together in teams consisting of a junior and senior.

R1 style Bikes "Maxi Bikes" will not run with cags or water cooled bikes at this event.

These rules are a supplementary ruling and all other rules used by the club at a general race meet apply .This pertains to rider conduct, overtaking and general sportsmanship

So Damon and I gave our support to your club SAMRA for the season and run in a cag class for that season as a cag bike. Now you have decided to kick my bike out THANKS SAMRA.

I suppose it was the only R1 style bike left to get rid of and it would have won.

Regards EION

Well anyone, Andy reason for the kick

This pertains to rider conduct, overtaking and general sportsmanship
If this is your reason it is a load of %^#$ yet again.
Damon doesn,t cut people off or hold them up to let other riders get advantage he always runs by your rules
and always enters the track with safety and fun and the win of cause.
REMEBER he has been racing longer than all of you.

Hi Eion
The move to not allow R1s or maxi bikes is not done to kick anyone.I know that Damon is a good rider. Damon is quite welcome to race on a cag or a water cooled with the appropriate wheel base. If you want I would even be willing to loan him one of my bikes just so that he could compete.
This is not my decision alone Eion and I must follow what the members of the club ask me to do.
I hope that you can understand why this decision was made and will take me up on my offer to loan Damon a bike or even if he wanted to team up with someone.

2008 Endurace Race results

Hi to all
Firstly I would like to thank all who participated in the SAMRA 2008 Endurance Race!
Though the number were down due confusion of the track being taken over by new owners this was a BRILLIANT event with fun being had by all who took part in this event ( This even includes the lap scorer from each team who did a great job of keeping count) I think they had fun ..was a great social bonding exercise for them too.
The race was a great social event for riders too ( even though it was still very competitive) The start of the race was done with a Lemann's style start, where the riders line up for a sprint run to their bikes once there they had to start their bikes and then race! WHAT A BLAST THIS WAS ! I can throughly recommend to any clubs that haven't organized an event like this that it is a totally awesome way to start an Endurance race as not only was it fun but it looked fantastic!
The first laps were like a general race and it took riders a while to settle and work out that a 1 hour race may seem short at first but once you are out there racing it's a bloody long time on a pocket bike. There was a bit of carnage in the first couple of laps with crashes and breakdown but the beauty of this event is this doesn't mean you are out of the race as you could always do a running repair or hope that the guys in front of you would have the same fortune.LOL This was run as a team event which added to the social part of the event and made running this event for an hour easier and besides that the pits stops were great to have and made it feel even more like an endurance race.
I would like to thank Wayne and Ronnie for putting on a BBQ and supplying drinks for the event. Also Wayne thank you for your ingenuity in making a checkered flag ,time keeping and starting the race.
Anyway here are the results and congratulations to all of the winners

1st Mark Hicks /Derek Johnston 104 laps
2nd Bill White / Liam White 102 laps Over the finish line first for this position.
3rd Ian James/ Brandon Bruin 102 laps
4th Ryan Bruin /Aiden Reis 101 laps
5th Ben White/ Andrew Reis 96 laps
6th Nathan Kenny/ Paul Kenny 92 laps great effort Nathan...Paul was pit crew in this case.
7th Keni Taufer/ Bryce Stubing 63 laps
8th Joel McWhinney/Chris Deed 31 laps
9th Ryan Mc Donnell/Shane Mc Donnell 22 laps

I would like to thank Danny from Pocket Racing Bikes for the donation of prizes he gave to SAMRA , these were given out as consolation prizes to:
Young Ryan McDonnell for his display of exceptional sportsmanship.
Young Nathan Kenny for his display of human endurance
and Dan Conneybeare for encouragement as he had not been able to take part due to a broken arm..but was still there to help with lap scoring.
Once again thanks to all who made this possible and I truly look forward to the next Endurance race !

Thanks to everyone involved in this event it was a great event and i must admit 1 hour solid on the track does seem to take a hell of alot longer than 1 hour lol , the sportmanship on the day was great and the wholle event was great atmosphere the numbers may of been down but them that turned out put in a fantastic effort , in a day that turned out preety warm the track temp i checked with didgital thermometer was actually 30deg put a rider out there in leathers for 1 full hour and its probaly closer to 36 deg , shows just how commited these guys really are to the sport ,the start was a great idea and the first few laps did as expected showed some slids and crashes as everyone battled for a position hopefully away from the pack , the pace during the full hour was fast in fact it wasnt far off race speed, when you look at the times , marky mark pulled in the pits to do a rider swap and collapsed requesting oxygen, ha ha , the older guys went well under the duress many looking exhausted and suffering fatigue , bill looked like he had just run a marathon, liam didnt look alot better, young ben was am sure was looking to find a cold shower , looked like he had just had one when he got off the bike, brycey looked like he was having some issues standing up and waiking at one stage when he pulled in for rider change, Andy looked like he was runing at about 50 deg in his leathers , at one stage i thought nathen was on auto pilot as he just looked a blank stare and appeared to be super glued to the bike , he was going ok until young kenny came down in front of him nathan riding over him and his bike and tried to continue on with chain guard hanging off, front brake haif off the bike, and a chain that had more kinks in it than actaully straight links , but everyone survived the day and had alot of fun , thanks to wayne and his wife for the great bbq, thanks to geoff for the use of the track, and SAMRA for runing the show a great day to be had by all, paul k
