Talking Track extension

The new track extension has not started probable due to the new owners wanting to get a feel for customer flow (ie number of users). As a business owner myself i know i did not make major investments in the newly purchased business till i had an accurate measure of my income and expendature. Besides no bank would lend you the money with out it.
Now i know from talking to the guys that they are keen to do them but are more than likely hesitant due to the above mentioned reasons.
In the mean time they have spent time puttting in smaller improvements like good concret inner corners and moving some of the tyres out to more logical positions (less dangerous places). They have put in better shelters and lighting and are keen to put in more.
They are holding regular social races plus great practice nights. Their emphasis is more on everyone having fun than all out winning.
The above is only my thoughts and not the new track owners words.
I would simply like to encourage everyone to come out and have a ride as if you are in this hobbie/sport it is probable the main reason you are the enjoyment of riding both with and against other people while enjoying their company plus advice of the track.
Cheers
Bryce

Good to see some enthusiasm and people looking towards the future of the sport. One thing I would say though in regards to a bigger track is,It would be great to have a bigger track, but the track we have now is still a lot of fun to race on and more to the point is what makes this so is we have a great bunch of people now running and riding at Pooraka now . For me the track could be only 100 metres long and I would still have the same amount of fun racing and riding at the track because of the great social atmosphere.
I have on occasion spoken to Rusty about track extensions and he is more than keen to try and get a bigger track,but...one thing holds them back on this and that is once again patronage ......they really need more riders and gokart hires to support the idea of a track extension .
I know that everyone who regularly attends the track supports and promotes the track the best they can,but there are a few more things we possibly can do to get the track up and running. One thing the track really needs to gain more patronage is "advertising" and this is one area all of us can help with.
Just recently I got some brochures from Gav to pin up on the pin up board at work and have had a great response from most of my co workers , some of them didn't even know that Pooraka was even open!
So maybe we can all do similar sorts of things to help promote the track.
The next spot I'm going to put some posters is at the local shopping center and even will advertise the social race meets too.
Even if we only gain a couple of more gokart hires it will of been worth the effort.
Also just a reminder to all racing at Pooraka this Saturday 1/03/2008...starts at 6.30 pm
