can i?

eyyy i am realy interested in getting a pocket bike, and i dont think after getting one i will hit the tracks (need some expirience) soo i am wondering if anyone knows about any laws in melbourne????

can u ride the pocket bikes on the foot paths, or at local creeks or parks, can u get away with ridding them at deserted car parks or after houres.

if the cops come round and catch me ridding what will happen, will i get a fine or get off with a warning (im only just 14)

the only thing that would be stopping me from ridding them at local places like theese would have to be the noise they make does anyone know anything that can make them less noisy??

THANKS>>>>Frank

Everything you mention is expressly illegal, if the cops catch you it will depend on the mood they're in and your attitude what they will do to you.

If you wanna make em quieter, you can put more packing in the muffler.

Hi

You can ride it at South Morang GPTC, or on private property as long as you have approval - That's about it.

Anywhere else and the Law is NOT on you side

Why not give the guys at Carter in Melbourne a call and I'm sure they will give you all the good info on both bikes and where to ride

Take it apart, wrap it around the tube with holes in it and put it back together again. You can use the stuff pink batts are made from (maybe climb in the roof and flog a bit from mum and dad, don't breathe the dust as it's bad for you). It wont affect the performance as it's a diffusion muffler - the gas comes out the final cone and because the tube attached has holes in it and since gas always expands to fill the available space, some of the gas goes out the holes and is diffused by the packing. The bulk of the gas goes straight out. The gas that enters the packing does have to leave eventually, but it isn't enough to create a restriction.

Very easy. Straighten the split pin in the end, compress the spring and remove the split pin. The spring slides off the end, followed by the red bit which is your silencer. The red bit contains the packing.

yeah, I agree, the muffler falls off and they break at the bend just after the engine flange..............But they work well on some standardish motors

Our original 39cc L7 motor which won a lot of races only ever ran the standard pipe (Though I admit we went through a few of them and finally raced it with no muffler as we got sick of them falling off).

As for re-packing, they are already packed and re-packing won't make it any quieter. Best suggestion I can offer is if you want to ride it around the local streets or parks and keep the motor quiet is JUST DON'T START IT. No complaints and no fines
