Are there places in Brisbane where PB can be ridden???

Just wondering if there are places available in the Brisbane or even Gold Coast area where is it legal to ride pocket bikes.

I have been reading all the complaints etc from other forums including possible changes to the laws.

I am mainly asking due to the fact that we purchased a pocket bike for our son for x-mas and he would like to get use to riding it before joining any possible clubs that might be out there.

Haven't really had anything to do with bikes etc so not sure where to start.

Trying to do the right thing.... Thanks for any replies!!!

You can ride at Parklands Kart Track on the Gold Coast. I think they charge $10 per day to practice. You can phone them on 5527 0060.

HI MATE, IF YOU ARE JUST LOOKING FOR SOMEWHERE FOR THE LAD TO GET EXPERIENCE AND A FEEL FOR A RACE TRACK THEN [REMOVED] AT THE GOLD COAST IS FINE.

BUT I WOULD ADVISE LOOKING ELSEWHERE IF YOUR SON WOULD LIKE TO JOIN A CLUB AND HAVE A CHANCE OF RACING COMPETITIVELY UNLESS YOU HAVE MONEY TO BURN.

THIS CLUB UNLIKE ANY OTHER ''LEGITIMATE MINIMOTO CLUB'' WORLDWIDE THAT I KNOW OF, WILL FORCE STOCK BIKES TO RACE AGAINST HIGHLY MODIFIED BIKES, WHERE OTHER CLUBS WILL RACE THEM AS SEPERATE CLASSES ( AS THEY SHOULD ).

PERHAPS THIS IS BECAUSE UNLIKE MOST OTHER CLUBS THESE GUY'S HAVE A VESTED INTEREST. THEY JUST SO HAPPEN TO BE A VERY BIG RETAILER OF POCKET BIKE PERFORMANCE PARTS AS WELL, AND WHEN YOUR SON FINDS THAT HIS BIKE JUST WON'T CUT IT AGAINST THE CHEQUE BOOK RACERS, THESE GUYS WILL ONLY BE TO HAPPY TO SELL YOU ANY OF THE MULTITUDE OF PERFORMANCE PARTS THAT THEY LET PEOPLE RACE WITH.

IT'S JUST MY OPINION THOUGH MATE, AND YOU HAVE PROBABLY ALREADY GUESSED THAT I HAVE HAD A RUN IN WITH THESE GUYS :-) AND THIS IS JUST ONE REASON AMONG MANY WHY I WOULD ADVISE YOU TO LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR A CUB TO JOIN,

JUST MAKE SURE THE CLUB YOU DECIDE TO GO WITH (IF IT IS NOT THE [REMOVED] CLUB) HAS THE APPROPRIATE INSURANCE ETC...BECAUSE APART FROM THE OBVIOUS IF THEY DON'T, THEN THIS SELF APPOINTED ''POCKET BIKE RACE COUNCIL'' (IF THEY FIND OUT) WILL DO THEIR BEST TO SHUT IT DOWN AS THEY SEEM TO DETEST ANY CLUBS THAT ARE NOT AFFILIATED WITH THEM.

Thanks for that, He really just wants to get comfortable with the bike and get a feel of the whole experience of riding one.

I am not looking at joining any clubs at this time, but if he is interested I will look into it. Thanks for the advice!!!

What I would suggest is perhaps gathering a group of friends who have pocket bikes (convince em to get one if they dont) and organising your own little race meets at a local car park or somewhere suitable where you can race them.

I AGREE WITH MANY OF RENS COMMENTS RE [REMOVED] RACING FORMAT.

THESE GUYS ARE LOOSE CANNONS WHO COULD HAVE A GREAT THING GOING IF THEY WERE PREPARED TO LISTEN TO PEOPLE AND PUT A BIT MORE WORK INTO THEIR RACE ORGANISATION.

OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS A LOT OF GUYS HAVE ENTERED A RACE MEETING THEIR ONLY TO BE BLOWN AWAY BY THE CHEQUE BOOK RACERS OR PENALISED BY HAVING TO RACE LIGHTWEIGHT JUNIORS IN SENIOR CLASSES. THEN THE KIDS (WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO BE 11 OR OLDER) ARE RACING 8 AND 9 YEAR OLDS WHO WEIGH NOTHING AND RACE THE FASTEST OF BIKES. THOSE GUYS NEVER RETURN!

YOU HAVE TO FEEL SORRY FOR THE YOUNG GUYS WHO'S DAD HAS BOUGHT THEM A STANDARD BIKE, AND FIND THEY GET LAPPED NEARLY TWICE IN AN 8 LAP RACE 'CAUSE THEY ARE RACING AGAINST THEIR "FACTORY" ROCKET-SHIPS. DAD THEN FINDS HE HAS TO SPEND ANOTHER GRAND WITH THEM TO MAKE THE BIKE COMPETITIVE - IT'S BULLS..T!!

THEIR "PRIZE" POLICY IS A LAUGH. THEY USED TO GIVE TROPHIES FOR 1ST TO 3RD. APPARENTLY NOW IF YOU WIN, YOU'RE LUCKY IF THEY GIVE YOU A VOUCHER FOR THEIR OVERPRICED PARTS SHOP.

IF THESE GUYS SPLIT THE RACES INTO FAIRER CATEGORIES BY BIKE MODS, RIDER WEIGHT OR EXPERIENCE THEY WOULD GET A LOT MORE REGULAR RIDERS AND GOOD FIELDS OF CLOSER RACING.

I AGREE THAT THEY ARE ONLY IN IT FOR THE BIG BUCKS AND REALLY DON'T GIVE A S..T ABOUT THE QUALITY OF RACING OR THE NEED TO GET THE BIKES OFF THE STREET AND ONTO TRACKS WHERE RIDERS CAN ENJOY RACING THEIR POCKETBIKES AT WHATEVER LEVEL OF COMPETITION THEY WISH TO PARTICIPATE IN.

IF SOMEONE DOES START A GOOD COMPETION ELSEWHERE THESE GUYS WILL BE LEFT WITH AN EMPTY TRACK ON SATURDAY NIGHTS

THE INSURANCE IS OVER $ 30,000.00 A YEAR.

I have been to the factories in China... I have seen the differences in the manufacturing... some have Nickel Bores.. some have ceramic coatings.. etc etc.. the cheap crap doesn't matter what they have.... WE JUST PAY FOR THE BEST... the new model series III even comes STANDARD with machined ports.. ( in the last shipmemt only )

I can buy engine for 30-40% less but WE JUST BUY THE BEST !!!

WE HAVE FOUND THE BEST ENGINES... and if you think $ 220.00 of a short engine is a rip off for a SERIESS III then go buy a cheap price of shit for $ 150.00 and get beaten.. THIS IS THE CHEAPEST MOTOR RACING THERE IS....
